About The Position

Focus of the procurement services program is to provide procurement support and exceptional service to the scientists, engineers, and organizations across the Laboratory. Procurement services facilitates through the procurement process the timely and economical acquisition of standard and complex products and services required by the scientific and operations organizations of Argonne National Laboratory within legal constraints of the regulatory and statutes. Use proprietary contract administration software to manage purchase orders, requisitions, and contracts for the entire laboratory. Use Microsoft Excel to track required documentation and regulatory requirements associated with contracts. Support laboratory staff with expediting procurement actions. Contact suppliers to confirm pricing and other details regarding purchase and orders. Deliver effective communication with laboratory staff and outside vendors. Support procurement staff in resolving vendor transaction exceptions in Workday. Work within a team that fosters transparency and collaboration. Education and Experience Requirements Must be a U.S. citizen. Must be currently enrolled full-time at an accredited institution and have completed at least one semester of schooling by the start of the program. Must be 18 years or older at the time the appointment begins. If accepting an offer, must pass a screening drug test. Majors: Finance, Business Management or Business Law with interest in supply-chain management or contract administration. Departments: Contract Administration, Procurement, Property, Small Business Compliance, Subcontracts and Construction, Commercial, Information Technology and Rapid Response. Completed two years of undergraduate academics in a business program and maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.0 on 4.0 scale. A desire to participate in a dynamic work environment with competing deadlines. Ability to be a highly motivated and self-starting and seeking a future career in a business profession. Desire to learn about business disciplines of accounting, business administration, economics, finance, management information systems, etc. Ability to negotiate between large scale project goals and individual work assignments Ability to assist in difficult situations and keep composure and confidence. Experience with Microsoft Office Products (Word, Outlook, Excel) Great aptitude for math and processing logic. Excellent written and oral communication skills.
