About The Position

Focus of the procurement services program is to provide procurement of goods and services and exceptional service to the scientists, engineers, and organizations across the Laboratory. Procurement services facilitates through the procurement process the timely and economical acquisition of standard and complex products and services required by the scientific and operations organizations of Argonne National Laboratory. Use proprietary contract administration software to create and manage purchase orders for the entire laboratory. Support laboratory staff with expediting procurement actions. Contact suppliers to confirm pricing, following up on past due orders, closing of contracts and other outstanding issues. Effectively communicate with laboratory staff and suppliers Support procurement staff in resolving vendor transaction exceptions in Workday. Work within a team that fosters transparency and collaboration.

Requirements

  • Must be a U.S. citizen.
  • Must be currently enrolled full-time at an accredited institution and have completed at least one semester of schooling by the start of the program.
  • Must be 18 years or older at the time the appointment begins.
  • If accepting an offer, must pass a screening drug test.
  • Majors: Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Operations, Business Management, Finance, Communications, or Business Law with interest in supply-chain management or contract administration.
  • Completed two years of undergraduate academics in a business program and maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.0 on 4.0 scale.
  • A desire to participate in a dynamic work environment with competing deadlines.
  • Ability to be a highly motivated and self-starting and seeking a future career in a business profession.
  • Desire to learn about business disciplines of accounting, business administration, economics, finance, management information systems, etc.
  • Ability to negotiate between large scale project goals and individual work assignments
  • Ability to assist in difficult situations and keep composure and confidence.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Products (Word, Outlook, Excel)
  • Great aptitude for math and processing logic.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
