About The Position

The Procurement Sr. Specialist is responsible for bringing spend within their category under procurement management through theme development, strategic management, and stakeholder alignment. This role involves regular engagement with business stakeholders, establishing and leading strategies for optimal cost reduction, and managing supplier relationships and risk. The Specialist owns relationships with key site and business unit leadership, develops and implements sourcing strategies, and collaborates with internal business partners and suppliers to reduce risks and costs for Honda. They are accountable for identifying, setting, and managing metrics for supplier performance and delivery, driving results through competitive bidding processes, and analyzing data and market trends. The position also involves driving continuous improvement of regional Procurement processes and tools, long-term category planning, creating/driving/implementing initiatives, and communicating/influencing customers and suppliers at all levels. The Specialist must be collaborative, urgent, curious, adaptable, customer-focused, and possess strong business acumen, managing multiple projects to meet business objectives.

Requirements

Bachelor Degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Finance, or related field or equivalent experience
5+ years of experience in either a Purchasing and/or Procurement related role or in a field where job knowledge & skills are applicable based on education
Advance computer skills including working knowledge of microsoft suite to include word, excel, powerpoint, etc.
Familiarity with sap, ariba or major erp system(s)
Understanding of commercial terms and conditions and experience in identifying and negotiating master agreement requirements; ability to identify engagement risk factors and ensure commercial contracts and legal agreements appropriately mitigate risk and protect Honda.
Expert understanding of, and experience with, multi-step strategic sourcing processes and category management strategies
Able to explain complex data in an understandable manner for a wide range of audiences
Plan and implement long-term development strategies for category
Strong communication and negotiation skills for all levels of audience

Responsibilities

Responsible for Supplier Performance / Development / Risk/ Support Segmentation
Develop/Execute/Implement the Strategic Sourcing Function in Alignment with Category
Lead the team to establish and meet category SEQCDM performance targets and measures, monitor progress and implement countermeasures when necessary
Responsible For Category’s Legal and Commercial Supplier Contracts Executed to Protect Honda and Business Users
Lead project implementation and oversee projects and business plan items, monitor progress and adjust direction as needed
Effectively sell ideas, negotiate, collaborate, and build consensus across Honda North America sites (Mfg., Sales, &D)
Apply key customer (upstream, downstream, and end-user) viewpoint in all category activities. Establish, understand, and communicate Total Cost of Ownership to all parties.
Build a network of productive relationships across HDMA/AHM to achieve category plans and targets
