About The Position

In this internship, you will support the Procurement Department in improving material flow, documentation accuracy, and operational efficiency. The primary focus of this role is to assist in developing and implementing a standardized routing system for Bills of Materials (BOM) used in the manufacturing of specialty composite panels.

Requirements

  • Must be currently enrolled in a four-year college or university program related to Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Industrial Engineering, or a similar field.
  • Must be eligible to work on programs subject to ITAR (International Traffic in Arms Regulations)

Responsibilities

  • Review existing Bills of Materials (BOM) and identify routing gaps, inconsistencies, and areas requiring rework.
  • Assist in designing a structured, repeatable routing framework aligned with engineering, planning, and production requirements.
  • Collaborate with Manufacturing Engineering to validate process steps, material sequences, and work center assignments.
  • Input and update routing data within the ERP system (e.g., work centers, operation codes, lead times, tooling/fixture requirements).
  • Help document standard procedures for maintaining and updating BOM routing structures.
  • Assist buyers with creating purchase requisitions, obtaining supplier quotes, and tracking order status.
  • Help evaluate suppliers for delivery performance, lead times, and material quality.
  • Maintain accurate purchasing records and documentation to support audits and continuous improvement.
  • Perform data-entry tasks related to part creation, supplier updates, pricing, and inventory adjustments.
  • Work closely with Engineering, Production, Quality, and Materials Management to ensure BOMs and routing reflect real manufacturing processes.
  • Perform all reasonably related duties as assigned.
