About The Position

The Procurement Officer is responsible for developing and executing enterprise wide strategies to effectively manage the organization’s $2 billion annual non labor spend. They will also provide strategic leadership to ensure that sourcing, contracting, and supply chain initiatives deliver significant financial, quality, and service outcomes for Intermountain Healthcare. The Procurement Officer establishes the vision and operational framework for people, processes, technology, communications, and organizational structure that enable a high performing supply chain function. In addition, they lead a team of supply chain professionals and builds strong relationships with senior leaders across the organization, not limited to and including CFOs, Vice Presidents, Hospital Administrators, clinical leadership, and program directors across both clinical and non clinical areas, along with collaborating with other hospital organizations to identify and adopt best practices, explore opportunities for joint contracting, and align with peer supply chain leaders to strengthen systemwide sourcing performance. This role is preferably based within the Intermountain market areas (Utah – preferably in the Salt Lake are, ID, NV, MT or CO) to strengthen collaboration, visibility, and alignment with enterprise initiatives. We may consider a remote model with extension travel required. The correct salary range for the Procurement Office opportunity is $287,000 - $311,000 annually and as determined by prior years of relevant experience. Requirements

  • Progressive leadership experience in supply chain, procurement, sourcing, or related operational disciplines, with a proven record of delivering measurable results in complex environments.
  • Extensive procurement expertise, including deep knowledge of products, services, software solutions, and supply chain management best practices.
  • Strong strategic and analytical capabilities, including the ability to interpret data, apply business economics principles, and make informed sourcing decisions.
  • Advanced negotiation and contract management skills, with a solid understanding of contract law and conflict resolution.
  • Exceptional communication, relationship‑building, and influencing skills, with the ability to engage stakeholders at all levels.
  • Demonstrated leadership ability, including developing staff, building high‑performing teams, and driving organizational outcomes.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Healthcare Administration, or a related field.
  • Experience in healthcare supply chain or procurement, ideally within a large, multi‑facility health system.
  • Expertise in healthcare contract management and sourcing, including both clinical and non‑clinical categories.
  • Background in strategic sourcing methodologies, such as category management, standardization, value analysis, and supplier segmentation.
  • Experience leading supplier performance programs, including governance, scorecards, supplier development, and risk management.
  • Familiarity with enterprise‑level procurement systems, such as ERP platforms (Oracle, PeopleSoft) or contract lifecycle management tools.
  • Relevant professional certifications such as CPSM, CSCP, CMRP, CHC, PMP, or similar.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the vision, strategy, and long‑range planning for enterprise supply chain operations. Establishes system‑wide priorities, drives strategic alignment, and ensures supply chain goals support organizational objectives.
  • Develop and implement cost‑management strategies that deliver significant value to the organization. Identifies opportunities for financial improvement through analytics, contract optimization, and enterprise planning.
  • Oversee sourcing strategies for all direct and indirect categories. Lead high‑value negotiations, standardization initiatives, and the source‑to‑settle process to ensure the optimal balance of cost, quality, and service.
  • Define and manage the supplier governance framework. Build strategic partnerships, monitors performance and risk, and leads supplier development efforts to drive long‑term value.
  • Partner with senior leaders across the organization to align sourcing and supply chain initiatives with business needs. Leads enterprise implementation of sourcing decisions and ensures consistent adoption of supply chain standards.
  • Lead, develop, and mentor a high‑performing supply chain team. Oversee workforce planning, performance management, and team capability building.
  • Provide leadership for supply chain process improvement, compliance, metrics, and enterprise governance. Ensure operational consistency across all supply chain functions.
