About The Position

We are seeking a motivated and detail oriented Manufacturing Buyer Intern to join our procurement team in San Antonio. This internship provides hand son experience in supply chain operations, supplier engagement, purchasing processes, and cross functional collaboration within a fast paced manufacturing environment. The successful candidate will support daily purchasing activities, contribute to sourcing decisions, and help ensure on time supply of materials to support production.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Industrial Engineering, Operations Management, or related field.
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and comfortable working with data.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a fastpaced manufacturing environment.
  • Interest in purchasing, supply chain, or manufacturing operations.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with issuing purchase orders (POs) for production materials, components, and services.
  • Monitor order status, delivery schedules, and follow up with suppliers to ensure ontime deliveries.
  • Update procurement systems and maintain accurate purchasing records.
  • Support communication with suppliers regarding lead times, pricing, quotes, and order updates.
  • Participate in supplier meetings (in person or virtual) to track open actions and gather status updates.
  • Help evaluate supplier performance based on quality, delivery, and responsiveness.
  • Assist in preparing and sending Requests for Quotation (RFQs) for assigned categories.
  • Gather cost breakdowns, compare supplier proposals, and summarize findings for review.
  • Support identification of potential new suppliers through research and outreach.
  • Analyze material spend, usage trends, and inventory levels.
  • Prepare weekly reports summarizing purchasing performance and open issues.
  • Update dashboards or Excel trackers related to supplier metrics, cost savings, and procurement KPIs.
  • Work closely with engineering, production, logistics, and quality teams to resolve component shortages and supplier issues.
  • Support problem solving efforts for material delays, quality concerns, or process gaps.
