About The Position

The Procurement Category Manager (Capex, Construction & Maintenance) will establish and execute 1–3-year category strategies across construction, maintenance and capital equipment to deliver value across Simplot’s Ag Retail footprint. The role partners closely with internal stakeholders across the business entity including Engineering, Capital Project Management, Operations, and Finance. Category strategies include spend analysis and opportunity mapping, external market analysis, supplier segmentation and supplier management, and establishing a multi-year project portfolio. This Procurement Category Manager will also lead sourcing projects based on the category strategy and support on-demand projects from internal stakeholders, with a focus on assurance of supply, quality, service, cost, innovation, and relationship outcomes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree (B.A. or B.S.) from 4-year college or university (Business, Supply Chain, Engineering, Finance, or related field).
  • 3+ years in Procurement, Project Engineering/Management or closely related commercial role.
  • Demonstrated experience with RFx processes, contracting, negotiation, and supplier performance management.
  • Strong analytical skills including spend analysis, market/data analysis, opportunity prioritization
  • Proven ability to build stakeholder relationships, prioritize competing priorities, influence decisions, and drive cross-functional outcomes.
  • MS Office Suite (Word – contract redlining, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.)

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with capex, construction, and maintenance categories and contractor/subcontractor dynamics.
  • Experience with SAP Ariba (Sourcing & Contracts modules) and PowerBI dashboards.
  • Knowledge of master agreement structures (ex: MPSA, MESPA, MCA, MSA) and experience negotiating detailed terms and conditions.
  • Exposure to Strategic Cost Management, should-cost modeling, supplier relationship and risk management, and TCO analysis.

Responsibilities

  • Develop category strategies and a multi-year project portfolio for construction, maintenance and capital equipment with mid to high-level criticality and complexity.
  • Manage strategic supplier relationships and performance to ensure delivery of service, quality, cost and supply commitments.
  • Partner with Engineering, Project Management, Operations and Finance to prioritize and execute a portfolio of projects and deliver category strategy outcomes.
  • Lead sourcing and contracting for priority projects and manage buy contracts.
  • Increase spend under management and guide demand through appropriate buy channels.
  • Use PowerBI and procurement analytics to measure performance, communicate results and inform decisions.
  • Champion process simplification and procurement adoption across the business.
