About The Position
The Procurement Analyst is responsible for planning, analyzing, and optimizing purchasing activities to ensure product availability while balancing inventory investment, supplier performance, and service level objectives. This role partners closely with Product Management, R&D, Operations, Warehousing, and suppliers to translate demand signals into actionable procurement plans and proactively manage supply risk. This position is analytical and planning-focused, with accountability for forecast alignment, inventory recommendations, and cross-functional coordination.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED required
- An associate degree or an equivalent combination of education and relevant purchasing or procurement experience is considered
- Progressive, hands-on experience in purchasing, procurement, or inventory planning in lieu of formal education
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel; strong overall MS Office skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively across functions
Nice To Haves
- Experience with ERP or MRP systems
- Knowledge of inventory planning methodologies and supply chain KPIs
- Exposure to supplier performance analysis or inventory optimization
Responsibilities
- Purchasing Planning & Inventory Optimization Analyze forecasts, historical demand, lead times, and supplier performance to develop purchase and inventory recommendations
- Review planned purchase requirements and recommend adjustments to align with service level and inventory targets
- Establish and maintain reorder points, safety stock levels, and inventory parameters
- Monitor slow-moving, excess, and obsolete inventory and recommend mitigation actions
- Cross Functional & Supplier Collaboration Partner with Product Management and R&D to support new product introductions and procurement readiness
- Support product phaseouts and discontinuations to minimize inventory exposure
- Coordinate with Operations, Warehousing, R&D, and suppliers to address supply constraints, variability, and service issues
- Compliance & Operational Support Ensure procurement activities comply with company policies, safety standards, and quality requirements
- Provide recommendations on procurement policies, tools, and best practices
- Support internal stakeholders with training and guidance on procurement and inventory planning concepts
- Support additional purchasing or supply chain initiatives as assigned
