About The Position

As a Processing Technician MS, you’ll play a vital role in advancing our mission. This position is located in Virginia Beach, VA, within the Production & Logistics Department. You will be responsible for performing all aspects of processing, preservation, and storage of tissues in an FDA regulated environment. The role involves working in a team under aseptic conditions while performing controlled production processes, conducting quality assessments of tissue products, and documentation. The complexity of the position varies based on physical demands, knowledge of human anatomy, number of graft lines/product families processed, complexity of processes required for proficiency, number and types of equipment operated, and degree of manual dexterity and fine motor skills. This role is critical for transitioning donor gifts into lifesaving and health-restoring allografts for patients globally. You will be required to sit, stand, bend, walk and lift up to 50 lbs. for the duration of the shift, and wear personal protective equipment including surgical gowns, masks, visors or goggles, and caps.

Requirements

  • High School or GED required
  • Must be 18 years of age or older to apply
  • Two years of work experience is required
  • Able to perform tasks thoroughly and with care; checks work to ensure accuracy and completeness
  • Able to convey information verbally and in writing
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Applications, Computer Software, Databases
  • Able to learn new skills, grafts, and adapt to developing product lines
  • Able to prioritize multiple, competing priorities and manage time/workload
  • Able to work collaboratively in a team environment

Nice To Haves

  • Certified Tissue Banking Specialist (CTBS) Certification preferred
  • One (1) year Tissue Processing, Tissue Recovery, Manufacturing, Operations, or as a Surgical Technician
  • Two (2) years’ experience working in a non-clerical, fast-paced, hands-on setting
  • Technical skills (preferred)
  • General knowledge of anatomy
  • Able to use surgical instrumentation and equipment

Responsibilities

  • Reviews work orders or processing instructions/scheduling prior to initiating production.
  • Works with production supervisors to adjust plans as needed.
  • Performs all aspects of processing tissue (debridement, dissection, cutting, cleaning and disinfection, sizing, assessing) according to current procedures and protocols.
  • Assists supervisory team in production enhancement and improvement initiatives.
  • Perform all aspects of packaging and preservation of tissue products (confirmation of sizing, quality, packaging materials, cryopreservation, etc.) according to current procedures and protocols.
  • Document all processes and functions performed in accordance with all procedures and protocols.
  • Perform post-processing decontamination of equipment and the processing room according to current procedures and protocols.
