Job Title: Processing Performance Leader Reporting To: Manager, Wet Proc. Heat Treat Work Schedule: Onsite – Torrance, CA Moog Military Aircraft Group is looking for a Processing Performance Leader (Production Supervisor) to oversee our Processing Department (Heat Treat, Plating, Shot Peen, and Paint) on 2nd shift. You will have daily operational responsibility including safety, quality, delivery, efficiency, and cost. You will oversee a team of 18 -20 processing technicians and coordinate with support groups (planning, maintenance, machine shop, etc.). Reporting to the Processing Manager, you will have a 9/80 schedule and work onsite in Torrance, CA. Moog’s Military Aircraft Group is a global leader in designing primary and secondary flight control actuation systems (FCAS) for military aircraft. We design and integrate FCAS systems for cutting edge aircraft like the F-35 Lightning II and the V280 Valor next generation tiltrotor Aircraft. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree with 5+years of experience in a manufacturing production environment OR Associate's Degree with 8+ years of experience in a manufacturing production environment
  • Supervisory/Team Lead experience; OR in lieu of supervisor experience, Engineering experience in a role supporting Manufacturing such as Manufacturing Engineer, M&PE (Materials and Processing Engineer), Quality Engineer
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Able to work on 2nd shift hours

Nice To Haves

  • Aerospace, defense, or similarly regulated industry experience
  • Experience working with Heat Treat, Plating, Shot Peen, and Paint, planning, maintenance, machine shop environment
  • Familiarity with AS9100, ISO 9001, and FAA requirements
  • Ability to read blueprints
  • Experience with EHS best practices in manufacturing

Responsibilities

  • Oversee a team of production employees on 2nd shift including hiring and training, talent management and performance management and improvement.
  • Implement and measure short- and long-term team goals which aligns with the organizational strategy; motivate and lead team members; and coordinate with support groups to accomplish area goals.
  • Identify opportunities for improvement (safety, quality, productivity) to achieve high impact results.
  • Recommend actions to address / implement improvements (when appropriate) or take immediate action independently when feasible.
  • Interface and collaborate on projects (capital, improvements, new product or process introduction) with outside departments including EHS, Quality, Materials & Processing, Manufacturing Engineering, Maintenance, and outside Contractors.
  • Utilize company resources to report, investigate and implement corrective actions for safety incidents (near misses, injuries), non-conforming products, responding to Corrective Actions requests for quality issues or audit findings, non functioning manufacturing equipment, etc.
  • Run reports and queries to pull manufacturing data from various sources to measure and report Key Performance Metrics for responsible department / teams.
  • Analyze performance metric data to identify trends and factors affecting metrics.
  • Management of personnel and equipment to optimize productivity at the least possible cost to meet manufacturing schedules and delivery commitments.
  • Hire external talent and evaluate personnel within team for the purposes of performance management and talent development.
  • Manage all employee relations issues before they become major challenges.
  • Responsible for employee counseling, discipline and performance feedback.
  • Create team and individual goals.
  • Ensure accurate employee time reporting and manage vacation / time-off to support company needs.
  • Provide good organization/employee relations within areas by administering all personnel policies.
  • Maintain work group by providing technical assistance, instruction, and training.
  • Ensure good housekeeping and safe working conditions within the area to provide acceptable working environment, limit job injuries and reduce lost time.
