As a Lab Processing Supervisor, you’ll oversee day-to-day post-processing lab operations while staying hands-on in production. You’ll lead the extraction team, maintain quality and compliance standards, and keep schedules, training, and documentation aligned to support consistent, high-quality output. You’ll partner closely with the Operations Manager to monitor performance, address issues, and keep production moving efficiently.

Requirements

  • You hold a Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, or a related field
  • 2+ years of experience working in a laboratory or manufacturing environment
  • 2+ years of hands-on leadership experience, with a track record of coaching teams
  • Experience in scientific and technical documentation, including SOPs, training materials, and process documentation
  • You have hands-on knowledge of ethanol extraction, winterization, filtration, rotary evaporation, distillation, and product formulation
  • You’re comfortable building weekly and monthly production schedules, establishing daily performance metrics, and tracking output against goals
  • Strong understanding of health, safety, and compliance standards, with hands-on experience safely handling, storing, and disposing of chemicals and hazardous materials in an extraction lab environment
  • Comfortable using laboratory computer systems and software, with strong recordkeeping and audit practices to ensure production documentation is accurate and complete
  • Ability to stand, sit, and walk for extended periods of time, lift and carry up to 50 pounds occasionally
  • Ability to use required PPE when required, such as masks, hair nets, beard covers, respirators, boot covers, scrubs, non-slip shoes, and Tyvek suits as necessary
  • Exposure to environments with high humidity, varying temperatures, and strong odors (such as cannabis)
  • Exposure to soil, water, fertilizer, dust, pollen and plant pathogens
  • Exposure to cleaning solvents, such as high volumes of isopropyl alcohol
  • Exposure to loud noises, including but not limited to air compressors, packaging equipment, and alarms
  • Exposure to CO2 manufacturing procedures at OSHA approved CO2 levels

Nice To Haves

  • You have experience working with Vitalis extraction equipment
  • You bring at least 1 year of experience working in the cannabis industry
  • Experience supporting quality control and testing, including hands-on work with HPLC and GC analysis

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and support the Post Processing team through clear communication, planning, coaching, and performance management
  • Own daily, weekly, and monthly production reporting, including actual vs. expected output, variance explanations, attendance tracking, and all required paperwork
  • Prepare for efficient production by reviewing schedules, clarifying specifications, calculating batch requirements, and assembling materials for extractions, distillation, and formulations
  • Coordinate team schedules across overlapping shifts, accounting for PTO and call-offs to maintain production continuity
  • Train and onboard Post Processing staff while maintaining accurate training and compliance documentation
  • Operate and oversee extraction, purification, and processing activities, including ethanol extraction in a C1D2 environment and refinement of crude oil into finished products
  • Execute purification processes such as winterization, filtration, rotary evaporation, decarboxylation, and distillation
  • Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot lab equipment including extractors, heaters, chillers, vacuum pumps, centrifuges, balances, and distillation units
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and compliant lab environment in accordance with cGMP standards, SOPs, and safety regulations
  • Manage inventory, preventative maintenance records, requisitions, and WIP cycle counts within MJ Freeway
  • Maintain accurate records, data logs, MSDS documentation, and ensure proper storage and disposal of materials and waste in compliance with state regulations
