About The Position

Processing lead for the injection-molding department. Continuously improve processes through problem solving and standardization. Ensure parts produced meet quality standards and document process controls. Technical lead for molding and automation processes, tooling, robotics programing, material conveying equipment, blending equipment, dispensing automation, and preventative maintenance.

Requirements

  • Minimal 5 yrs experience in injection molding technology or related field.
  • Demonstrated Injection molding process control experience and robot programming.
  • Quick mold change experience / training.
  • Experience in hydraulics, electrical, and mechanical maintenance repair methods and problems solving.
  • Computer skills; such as Word, Excel, and databases.
  • 2 year associate degree in plastics engineering technology or related field.
  • 5 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • The employee is required to stand for long periods of time, repeatedly bend and reach, and use hands to manipulate tools and parts.
  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include color vision and depth perception.
  • The employee is exposed to dirty environments on a daily basis.
  • Hearing protection steel toed shoes, safety glasses, and hard hats are required.

Nice To Haves

  • Fanuc, Motoman, Sepro Robots, and Cincinnati molding machine experience a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Overseeing and optimizing processes for injection molding, robotic programming, seal application cells, blending, grinding, and other automated value-add activities.
  • Support team members with quality- or process-related issues of equipment they operate and act as a positive example of teamwork.
  • Proficient with molding machine processing and robot programming for mold changes and robot end-of-arm tooling changes, including clamp and ejector settings, material purge processes, and robot operation.
  • Ensure all safety procedures and checklists are followed and personal protective equipment is used when required.
  • Teach and mentor mold technicians for backup coverage and people development; proficient and able to teach all mold tech job description functions.
  • Ensure parts meet quality standards during startup and throughout the production run by following process controls, first-piece procedures, checklists, and best practices; verify dimensional and go/no-go requirements.
  • Proficient in tool and die assembly and disassembly, including pin replacements, A and B plate assembly, insert changes, and threaded pipe work.
  • Coordinate the mold change process safely by overseeing external and internal setup steps and assisting mold techs with mold, pin, and insert changes using proper lockout procedures.
  • Audit and optimize injection molding and robotic processes (cycle time) while maintaining part quality, machine reliability, and robot program integrity.
  • Document process sheets, OEE information, and process standards; log data and notify the team leader when conditions are outside limits.
  • Problem-solve process, equipment, and quality issues throughout production runs and perform machine repairs when needed.
  • Assist with engineering sampling of new molds and equipment; manage auxiliary and material-handling equipment and perform daily maintenance, 5S, and continuous improvement activities.
