LSB Industries is looking to hire a Process Safety Engineer to join our team. Their primary role is to lead the El Dorado, AR facility’s Process Safety Management program. This individual will be responsible for implementing necessary compliance program and procedures, identifying hazards or risks, analyzing and reporting findings on various EH&S consequences. They will collaborate with others to institute control and remedial measures for hazardous and potentially hazardous conditions, equipment, or situations. In addition, assists business units with EH&S permitting and compliance and represents the Company to external organizations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Industrial, Safety, Chemical Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering preferred.
  • 5+ years of industry experience is preferred.
  • Possesses in-depth knowledge of federal and state regulations and best practices regarding PSM and/or RMP compliance.
  • Highly organized with the ability to plan and complete multiple diverse tasks and meet challenging deadlines.
  • Ability to make sound decisions by utilizing job knowledge, work experience and evaluations of risks and consequences.
  • Strong knowledge of PC functions and software including MS Office Suite.
  • Must be able to follow safety, environmental and emergency response procedures.
  • Requires lifting of equipment and supplies weighing over fifty (50) pounds.
  • On a routine basis, must climb ladders, walkways, and scaffolds.
  • Requires ability to work outdoors in weather extremes (hot, cold and windy) and in high noise areas.
  • Ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) in designated areas (FRC, hard hat, safety glasses, gloves, steel toed boots and hearing protection) in addition to full face respirator as necessary in emergencies.
  • Required to be periodically on-call for after-hours emergencies.
  • This position is safety and security sensitive in nature.
  • This position deals with hazardous materials and/or industrial processes that can pose a risk to employees and the general public.
  • This facility is required to comply with security standards under Department of Homeland Security (DHS) CFATS regulation 6 CFR Part 27.

Responsibilities

  • Drive the implementation of PSM and RPM programs and procedures.
  • Facilitates Process Hazard Analysis (PHA) on existing and future processes and reports findings on consequences of equipment, tools, and procedures.
  • Provide oversite for the site Management of Change (MOC) process.
  • Lead Root Cause Analysis (RCA) investigations for incidents related to near misses.
  • Assists in developing and distributing educational materials, participation in required audits of PSM and RMP programs activities applicable at company facilities, and recommends corrections or additional precautions to ensure compliance with established regulations
  • May represent the Company on internal business affairs to external organizations or associations.
  • Identifies, assesses and presents possible solutions to problems concerning PSM & RMP issues
  • May assist in the development, implementation and coordination of process safety training programs.
  • Assist in the investigation of accidents or injuries for the determination of cause.
  • Participates in conducting internal audits.
  • Assists with permitting and reporting.
  • Assists with proposed regulation review and standard development.
  • Manages the company Learning Management System (LMS) for training, MOC, and incident reporting.
  • Assist with setting up PHA’s/LOPA’s, reviewing/revising Procedures, and ensuring Operations personnel are up to date on their training
