About The Position

Position Summary: The process planner develops the manufacturing plan to complete fabrication of Graham equipment. The planner works with project engineering, manufacturing and quality to incorporate all necessary steps to complete fabrication and meet customer specification requirements. They will also coordinate with supply chain/purchasing to ensure materials are available when needed and the process plan meets ship date requirements for the project. Key Results Areas by level of work: Level II: Service – Coordinating “production” with problem solving and prevention Resource management (material and people) a. Using manufacturing database software, builds travelers that provide detail necessary for manufacturing floor to complete fabrication without further reference to engineering or supervision. b. Reviews travelers to ensure the developed plan includes all project requirements and is most efficient for the equipment to be built c. Communicate with Supply Chain/Purchasing to establish accurate need by date requirements for purchased materials Resource scheduling, output management and reporting a. Responsible for creating the manufacturing build flow processes for assigned customer orders by collaborating with manufacturing, engineering and quality departments. b. Adjusts operation start dates to balance demand to available work center capacity while still achieving the customer due date c. Assist in identifying and resolving scheduling conflicts within the master schedule d. Notifies Plant Superintendent and/or Operations Manager – Navy when traveler planned hours exceeded application engineering estimated hours. Continuous Improvement a. Develop the ability to use Graham’s engineering drawings to independently create the build flow processes on our more standard products b. Participate with developing and maintaining an effective build flow template database c. Looks for and recommends process improvements throughout the order process to improve manufacturing process Equipment & process maintenance a. Prepares and maintains the Standard Operating Procedures and Work Instructions applicable to process planning. b. Updates travelers to incorporate changes in the project requirements. c. Reviews travelers for standard equipment to ensure process matches current manufacturing procedures. Professional Development a. Demonstrates initiative, positive attitude, and enthusiasm for the job. b. Will follow up with supervisor on professional development goals and opportunities. c. Is interested in growing within the company and communicates growth goals with supervisor to develop plan for growth.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma
  • Associate’s Degree in Business, Engineering or related Science field preferred.
  • 3+ years of manufacturing engineering or process planning experience.
  • 5+ years of direct fabrication experience in lieu of manufacturing engineering or process planning experience acceptable.
  • Must be willing to work overtime as required.
  • Experience reading technical drawings desired with a drive to be detail oriented and willingness to learn specification requirements.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering bill of materials to incorporate all operations necessary to take raw materials to finished product.
  • Ability to successfully plan and implement objectives within established timelines and work schedules.
  • Ability to work independently, with minimal direction as a highly motivated self-starter and within a team oriented culture.
  • High attention to detail.
  • Strong organization and time management skills.
  • Able to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Ability to operate cross functionally within the organization and drive product improvements throughout the process.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills required.
  • Ability to independently acquire and apply new knowledge related to our ERP application.
  • Must have proficiency in MS office applications including spreadsheet, enterprise resource planning, database, and specialized application software.
  • Ability and willingness to abide by set company policy.

  • Must be able to work in the U.S without sponsorship.
  • Ability to obtain US government security clearance is desired.
