About The Position

This role will be focused on Fralock's structural ceramics manufacturing business. Fralock is seeking a materials engineer or process engineering professional with 4-7+ years of experience in product development and process/manufacturing engineering to join our team in Fremont, CA. The process engineer II role is responsible for technical/operational leadership of complex development programs within guidance from senior engineering and product/program management. This position will help lead process improvements at our manufacturing facilities in Fremont. This key hire will report to the Executive Director of Structural Ceramic Engineering while working and collaborating closely with Engineering, Product, Quality, and Operations Managers to ensure the overall success of this growing segment of business at Fralock.

Requirements

  • Past experience in ceramic and/or glass component manufacturing
  • Strong computer skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to analyze data and problem solve
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings per ANSI 14.5Y rules
  • Knowledge and application of failure mode analysis techniques as applied to both process development and process improvement
  • Familiarity with navigating Made to Manage or a similar ERP system (BOM, Router, Item Master)
  • 3 to 10 years in a manufacturing environment
  • Experience in one or more related engineering areas: ceramics manufacturing, industrial, production, or quality
  • Bachelor’s degree in Materials Science and Engineering preferred or an Engineering related discipline.

Responsibilities

  • Work with design Engineers to develop and release new manufacturing processes and tooling, with responsibility for implementation on the factory floor.
  • Assist with formulating and improving travelers using operator provided data, making changes in ERP software.
  • Be the contact point and support in timely manner manufacturing to analyze root cause, propose and implement corrective actions (immediate, and longer term) and document any manufacturing out of specifications problem reported by manufacturing operation (operator, supervisors, managers)
  • Design new and improve existing manufacturing processes and methods, tooling, automation, and work instructions, applying Lean and Six Sigma principles.
  • Manage process transfer to manufacturing through gate and exit process, including process description, process limits and specifications, work instructions and training.
  • Assist quote team to estimate the manufacturing cost of new products.
  • Ability to provide ROI analysis of alternate methods, processes, or equipment, and create executive summaries.
  • Ability to realize and implement Design of Experiments to improve process capabilities.
  • Responsible for improving and troubleshooting existing manufacturing processes.
  • Research new and existing equipment/ machines to check for the functionality and feasibility of customer part manufacturing.
  • Work on projects that will reduce lead times, internal manufacturing costs, and will improve process control and yield.
  • Lead realization of work instructions and training.
  • Work within QA/QC procedures with an ability to understand their scope and application, as well as waiver documentation and procedures.
