About The Position

Cleveland-Cliffs is seeking a Process Engineer. The Process Engineer is an integral part of the autonomous work teams that make up the production and maintenance organizations. The ideal candidate is an experienced professional who demonstrates a broad grasp of the technical and administrative aspects of process engineering techniques and principles. Projects assigned are complex, involve multiple variables, and can be cross functional. Individuals in this role prepare effective communications across the organization and aid in problem resolution specific to assigned programs/projects. The position is in New Carlisle, Indiana, and it produces cold-rolled, hot-dipped galvanized, galvannealed, and electrogalvanized steel coils.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree (B.S.) in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, Material Science, Metallurgical, and Chemical Engineering from four-year college or university, with at minimum two years of work-related experience.
  • Must have the ability to work effectively within a team environment, utilizing clear and effective communication skills.
  • Ability to self-learn new hardware/software platforms.
  • Must be able to work in a multi-level organization which operates 24/7.
  • Computer and data analysis skills, including Microsoft applications.
  • Applicants for this position must be currently legally authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.

Nice To Haves

  • Manufacturing industry experience with knowledge of OSHA safety requirements.
  • Experience in steel manufacturing.

Responsibilities

  • Adhere to prescribed safety rules and policies and lead by example.
  • Seek methods or procedures that improve safety and quality while reducing costs and optimizing production efficiencies.
  • Demonstrate proficiency with a wide range of concepts, practices and principles of process technology and associated tools and techniques used to improve the manufacturing process.
  • Complete project responsibilities for design, specification, review and development of new manufacturing processes or system capability.
  • Will be involved with making engineering studies, detail design, procurement, installation, acceptance testing, trouble shooting and performance audits.
  • Assist in the development of schedules and priorities within work team to ensure completion of projects according to contract specifications and commitments.
  • Maintain effective communication with all affected stakeholders.
  • Perform detailed technical calculations pertaining to the manufacturing process and meet with appropriate team members to resolve any questions or issues as needed.
  • Prepare and participate in presentations as required, to explain design changes to the manufacturing process.
  • Draft reports and document ideas and concepts for presentations using various software packages.
  • Investigate incidents and process failures along with communicating the results of the corrective actions.
  • Ability to work in a union environment.
  • Other job duties as assigned.
