Job PurposeThe Process Engineer manages the Pilot Plant and the Scale-Up process for the success of new products, the resolution of production issues, and improvements in metrics – specifically reductions in DGRs, HPB, and cycle time. They coordinate with RDI Development and Commercial for new product introduction, and RDI, QC, and Production for product scale-up. The Process Engineer collaborates with the RDI Solutions team on manufacturing concerns, and creates and manages projects for themselves and the Process Technologist.

Requirements

  • BS in Engineering: Mechanical, Chemical or Process required
  • 3-5 years experience in CI, Process Engineering or Chemsit roles
  • Able to work with solvents, machinery and computer systems
  • ISO 9001 experience
  • Experience with coating operations, and/or continuous manufacturing operation
  • Six Sigma and Lean experience

Nice To Haves

  • 2-3 years experience in the Coatings industry preferable

Responsibilities

  • Perform Root Cause Analysis on chronic product problems and implement corrective/preventive actions which result in meeting plant goals.
  • Monitors the process performance through metrics such as RFT, MME, OEE, cost productivity, customer complaints, Waste Indices and takes action as required to correct adverse trends, performing plant based process investigations
  • Identify, design, coordinate and employ statistical evaluations utilizing the ASQ Body of Knowledge. This will include MSA, DOE, Capability Analysis, and Root Cause Analysis.
  • Provide quality and manufacturing support as required to meet specific program needs.
  • Assist in developing and implementing the plant wide Quality Management System (QMS).
  • Assist in specification development and/or changes as requested.
  • Organizes meetings with Sales, Technical Business Partners and QC to evaluate customer satisfaction and actively participates in the investigation of customer complaints and delivery of associated improvement plans.
  • Actively deploys ALPS foundations and ALPS Quality Management primary processes, with high priority.
  • Provides expertise for on site operations group during process related troubleshooting issues- hands on with production operators/quality techs.
  • For capital projects, executes process studies, contributes to pre-projects and performs initial project scoping and business case development, handing over to the project group for execution (except minor projects, <500k).
  • During project execution, plays a major role in commissioning,start-up and training, and then owning the technology for the site.
  • Multiple concurrent projects at any time varying from small to large ($500K) in scope.
