Monitors and maintains proper batch storage, delivery, weighing, and mixing. Works with QC and raw material carriers to approve unloading of raw materials into silos. Evaluates batch plant control systems data and makes appropriate adjustments to ensure process operates efficiently and remains in control. Monitors and controls glass formation in furnace and forehearth to ensure optimum mixing, melting, and furnace throughput. Monitors and adjusts critical process variables, including but not limited to, natural gas firing, electric boost power, pressure, temperature, flow rates, oxygen, bubblers, glass level, batch line, etc. Inspects furnace and forehearths per required frequency and takes appropriate action when issues are found. Assists in furnace changes, upsets, start-ups, shutdowns, repairs, and rebuilds. Guides and assists maintenance personnel in batch and furnace repairs. Performs minor repairs and process adjustments, as necessary. Maintains exceptional housekeeping and organization in all areas of responsibility including but not limited to batch house, furnace level, furnace sump level, forehearth level, and control room. Other duties as required.
