Position summary: The Process Engineer is responsible for developing, optimizing, and maintaining manufacturing processes to ensure efficient, safe, and cost-effective production. This role focuses on improving process capability, product quality, and overall operational performance through data analysis, root cause problem-solving, and cross-functional collaboration.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering (Mechanical, Chemical, Industrial, Manufacturing, or related field).
  • 5+ years of experience in manufacturing engineering or process improvement role.
  • Experience with manufacturing process design, SPC, and equipment capability analysis
  • ERP system experience (i.e., BOM, router, costing) preferred
  • Strong analytical, statistical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Skilled in Lean Manufacturing and/or Six Sigma methods.
  • Proficiency in CAD and data analysis tools (e.g., Minitab, Excel, Power BI).
  • Effective communicator and collaborator across production, maintenance, and quality teams.
  • Capable of leading technical projects and mentoring others in a hands-on production environment.
  • Primarily plant-floor and office environment; exposure to noise, dust, and moving equipment.
  • Must be able to stand or walk for extended periods and occasionally lift up to 25 lbs.
  • Occasional travel may be required to suppliers or other company facilities.

Nice To Haves

  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or equivalent training.
  • Experience with CNC or automation process optimization.
  • Background in abrasives, ceramics, or similar industrial manufacturing environments.

Responsibilities

  • Lead process optimization projects to improve yield, quality, throughput, and cost across manufacturing operations.
  • Analyze production data and identify root causes of variation or performance loss.
  • Develop and implement process control plans, visual work instructions, and standardized methods.
  • Drive continuous improvement through Lean and Six Sigma tools (e.g., Kaizen events, 5S, waste reduction).
  • Provide engineering support for manufacturing equipment, tooling, and fixtures; collaborate with Maintenance on upgrades or modifications.
  • Support CNC and automated equipment optimization in partnership with hourly leads.
  • Establish preventive maintenance standards and documentation for critical equipment.
  • Partner with Product Development and Industrialization teams to validate new products and materials for production readiness.
  • Lead process trials, capability studies, and equipment commissioning for new introductions.
  • Ensure documentation, routing, and BOM accuracy through coordination with the Production Operations Coordinator.
  • Oversee process-related documentation, including work instructions, control plans, and FMEAs.
  • Provide direction to the Production Operations Coordinator for accurate BOM, router, and ERP updates.
  • Validate production system data integrity to support capacity planning and cost analysis.
  • Partner with Quality to define process specifications and resolve non-conformances.
  • Collaborate with Supply Chain and Production to ensure stable production flow and timely material availability.
  • Mentor hourly employees and cell leaders on technical problem solving and process discipline.
