About The Position

A global leader in the Healthcare and Consumer Product markets, TekniPlex provides medical device components and a multitude of material science solutions that lead to a healthier and more sustainable world. Its solutions are found in some of the most well-known names in the Healthcare, Personal Care, Household, and Food and Beverage markets. The Tekni-Plex team is seeking a spring/summer intern to lead new process and technical engineering projects surrounding specifications and maintenance departments. During your 24 weeks in this role, you will actively participate in all aspects of technical and process improvements. Day-to-day responsibilities include collaborating with specs department, production supervisor, quality manager, and maintenance personnel. You will report to the plant Operations Manager and will work closely with the Tekni-Plex’s Ashland Team as well as others within the business unit.

Requirements

  • Current pursuit of a full-time undergraduate degree in Engineering or Material Science
  • Creative problem solvers, have an intellectual curiosity, and thrive in ambiguity
  • Demonstrated initiative, uncompromised integrity, and a results-oriented mindset
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Acute attention to detail with strong quantitative and analytical skills
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
  • Strong motivation and work ethic and the ability to work independently
  • Available to work up to 40 hours per week for the duration of internship
  • Candidates must pass a background check and drug test prior to hiring
  • Candidates should be able to work in the United States with no restrictions

Responsibilities

  • To lead and direct assigned project towards advanced specs review and corrections
  • To review customer specifications, understand, translate into internal specs in the ERP system
  • To identify and correct gaps within the specification process and improve accuracy
  • To perform full system updates in PRMS (ERP) and production spreadsheets (ops)
  • To create a maintenance parts inventory list and verify against OEM parts manuals
  • To generate PM’s and processes in digital maintenance management systems
  • To create an Ashland parts program and implement with maintenance personnel
  • To create documented procedures for all of the processes listed above
