Novelis in Guthrie, KY has an opportunity to participate in our on-site summer 2026 internship. The team is seeking a Process Engineering Intern that can join the team for approximately 12 weeks. The person in this role will have the opportunity to participate in relevant work and gain hands on industry experience. The intern will report to the Process Engineering Leader and will gain experience with our local Process Engineering Team.

Requirements

  • Enrolled in an accredited 4-year University.
  • Must be a Sophomore, Junior, Senior, or recent Graduate.
  • Interested in gaining hands-on industry experience prior to graduation.
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills which are essential for interacting with all levels of the organization.
  • Must be currently authorized to work in the United States for any employer.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Lean and Continuous Improvement
  • Understanding of heat-treating aluminum
  • Hands on industry experience (previously held an internship)

Responsibilities

  • Work with process engineers and quality techs to resolve customer complaints, qualify new customers, and develop processes at a new (greenfield) site.
  • Support Process engineers in DOE (design of experiment) improvement projects.
  • Learn about sustainability, quality, customer satisfaction and implement knowledge by sharing with operations.
  • Perform internal audits of machine centers to drive facility towards continuous multi-functional mentality.
  • Work in multi-functional groups to support engineering, maintenance, reliability, and automation as we all support the needs of operations.
