About the role Boston Scientific has an exciting opportunity for a Process Engineer III with the injection molding team at our Arden Hills, MN facility. Our team is dedicated to serving Boston Scientific as an elite technology development team that delivers high-quality, scalable, and cost-competitive injection molded component processes. We directly support Boston Scientific's mission to bring new, life-changing medical solutions to patients around the world. This role will work on a wide variety of technically challenging injection molding components, leading in partnership with our R&D and Manufacturing functional groups. You'll develop and implement new technology that will enable unique design solutions as well as improve manufacturing robustness, efficiency, and quality. This role follows a fully-onsite work model requiring employees to be in our local office five (5) days per week. Relocation assistance is not available for this position at this time. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering
  • Minimum of 3 years of professional, engineering experience relevant to this role
  • Strong mechanical acumen
  • Previous experience in injection molding, materials (polymers, etc.), and related technologies
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver project responsibilities, both self-driven and collaboratively
  • Willingness to work cross-functionally and with other Boston Scientific sites
  • Ability to work well within a strong team environment
  • Ability to provide own, reliable transportation between local Minnesota sites (Arden Hills, Maple Grove, Minnetonka, etc.)

Nice To Haves

  • Functional understanding of DFM, medical device design control, regulated quality systems, and the product development process
  • Prior experience with Engel, Sodick, Niessi, Arburg, and/or Boy molders
  • Prior experience or knowledge of injection mold tooling fabrication
  • Prior experience with robot programming and/or end-of-arm tooling development
  • Prior experience with vision and/or inspection systems (e.g., Cognex, Keyence)
  • Scientific Molding and/or Master Molder certification
  • Strong statistical background

Responsibilities

  • Develop robust injection molding processes using industry standard methods
  • Identify and deliver required documentation to meet quality systems requirements for commercialization
  • Execute tool design, project deliverables, and overall delivery by leading component development, including prototyping, spec development, ROI analysis, design verification, process validation, and commercial transfer
  • Assess process capabilities, prioritize process improvement opportunities, innovate, and implement process improvements on platform or derivative projects
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to ensure alignment of design, manufacturing, and quality requirements
  • Ensure visibility and closure of process issues (e.g., yields, cost, capability, etc.) per project milestones and in collaboration with Production Area Strategies
  • Plan, organize, and conduct all aspects of technical reviews
  • May serve as molding component project lead
  • May train and/or provide work direction to engineers, technicians, and manufacturing personnel
  • Champion functional best practices and new technology initiatives
  • Exercise authority and judgement within generally defined practices and policies to obtain solutions
  • Accountable for development builds associated with the project, such as special work requests
  • Accountable for developing qualified tooling and production line equipment
  • Establish and cultivate a wide range of business relationships to facilitate completion of initiatives
  • Interact with other internal and external personnel in significant matters requiring coordination between organizations
  • Represent organization as a prime contact on projects
  • Contribute ideas to or generate Intellectual Property submissions
  • Establish and promote an inclusive work environment that supports the Quality Policy and Quality System
  • Travel up to 10% (domestic and international)
