Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings - carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use. Position Overview: We are seeking a talented and driven Process Engineer to join our team. As a Process Engineer, you will utilize your knowledge of engineering principles to execute technical assignments and projects, solve manufacturing challenges, and contribute to process and product improvements. You will play a critical role in enhancing manufacturing capabilities by implementing innovative ideas and methods, supporting production operations, and driving continuous improvement.

Requirements

Bachelor of Science in Engineering or a related technical field.
Minimum of 2+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
Strong technical fundamentals in process engineering and creative problem-solving skills.
Ability to collaborate across organizational boundaries and deliver integrated solutions.
Strong interpersonal skills, effective communication, and ability to manage multiple priorities.
Ability to mentor and develop talent, fostering team success and individual growth.

Nice To Haves

Experience in mechanical design (components, tooling, guarding, etc.).
Project management expertise, including cost estimation, planning, and execution.
Familiarity with statistical tools such as Minitab.
Proficiency in structured problem-solving methodologies like DMAIC or PDCA.
Six Sigma Green Belt certification or equivalent experience preferred.
Knowledge of plastic extrusion technologies, cabling processes, and UV curable technologies is a plus.
Strong networking abilities across engineering and technology teams.
Excellent verbal/written communication and presentation skills.
Organizational and planning skills to manage multiple priorities effectively.
Open and engaging interpersonal approach, with the ability to give and receive coaching.

Responsibilities

Provide day-to-day problem-solving support to production operations, ensuring smooth manufacturing processes.
Assist in the transfer of new cabling technologies, materials, or processes from development to production, ensuring repeatability and reliability in a production environment.
Analyze process data to understand capability, monitor trends, and drive manufacturing excellence.
Collaborate with operators, team leaders, and peers to implement process, equipment, or safety improvements.
Identify process improvement and cost reduction opportunities using scientific methods to test and validate hypotheses.
Prepare cost justifications and capital requests for equipment purchases to achieve project goals.
