As a Process Efficiency Manager you’ll contribute to JM’s mission as a world leader in sustainable technology, transforming energy and reducing carbon emissions for a cleaner, brighter future. As a member of the West Deptford Leadership Team, the Process Efficiency Manager will play a pivotal role in driving process engineering excellence, engineering design and continuous improvement in support of the site-wide goals. This role requires a proactive and collaborative leader who is adept at analyzing processes, utilizing advanced problem-solving techniques and fostering a culture of continuous improvement. The primary focus is to improve the overall engineering design and performance of the site’s manufacturing processes. The scope of the role covers process engineering, process control, operational IT and continuous improvement. The role will have accountability for transformational change on site, but will be supportive of the Site Manager, who has ultimate accountability for delivering the site strategy. Strong collaboration with leadership team members, especially the development team is imperative for success in this role.

Requirements

  • Degree qualified, preferably in Chemical Engineering or other engineering discipline
  • 10+ years experience in manufacturing environment
  • 2+ years experience in a management / leadership role.
  • Deep understanding of Overall Equipment Effectiveness and Root Cause Analysis
  • Excellent working knowledge of Process Safety, EHS policies and procedures

Nice To Haves

  • Six Sigma Green-belt certification or higher – Desirable
  • IT/OT literacy and ability to learn new software systems
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Packages, including Power BI – Desirable

Responsibilities

  • Lead Process Engineering, Process Control and Continuous Improvement teams to drive engineering best practices.
  • Imbed manufacturing practices such as OEE, RCA and six-sigma to make data-based decisions with an eye for sustained improvements.
  • Collaborate closely with Development and Engineering teams to safely improve site performance towards KPI’s.
  • Drive the Focused Improvement program site-wide using our established systems and approach.
  • Support EHS and Process Safety initiatives as outlined in site goals and objectives.
  • Build and support upskilling staff in engineering knowledge and capability through coaching, training and mentorship.
  • Support and lead Johnson Matthey Production Systems (JMPS) improvements – our ways of working.
  • Interface with peers in group functions and global sites to identify and implement best practices.
  • Partner with operations to ensure production needs are met.
  • Balance team priorities through a deep understanding of JM and site-wide goals and objectives.
  • Continuously evaluate the team’s talent level, making recommendations for succession planning, development needs and strategic support.
  • Identify and remove constrained thinking in continuous improvement opportunities.
  • Manage cost center and associated budget.
  • Perform all other appropriate duties as assigned by Site Manager.
