About The Position

We are seeking an Entry-Level Heat Treat Technology / Process Development Engineer to support the launch and daily operation of a new, patented induction heat treatment process for heavy-gauge carbon steel. This is a hands-on engineering role that offers extensive training, mentorship, and exposure to a high‑tech manufacturing environment (IATF 16949). This position is ideal for early‑career engineers who enjoy shop‑floor engagement, experimentation, data analysis, and learning advanced thermal processes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Materials, Manufacturing, or a related engineering discipline.
  • Foundational understanding of engineering principles, measurement tools, and CAD.
  • Strong interest in hands-on process engineering and learning metallurgical concepts.
  • Problem-solving and analytical mindset.
  • Ability to interpret technical documentation and write clear reports.
  • Basic statistics understanding (variation, data analysis, introductory DOE).
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • No prior heat treat experience required (full training provided).
  • Must meet ITAR/EAR requirements as a U.S. Person.
  • Ability to travel occasionally.

Nice To Haves

  • Internship/co‑op experience in manufacturing is helpful but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with developing, validating, and optimizing heat treat recipes.
  • Collect and analyze process data; perform sample preparation, hardness testing, and dimensional checks.
  • Support process troubleshooting using structured problem-solving techniques.
  • Participate in controlled trials, screening studies, and basic Design of Experiments (DOE).
  • Provide daily production support and help respond to process deviations.
  • Help draft work instructions, setup sheets, and reaction plans.
  • Perform basic fixturing reviews and support distortion measurement activities.
  • Work with Quality and Metrology teams to maintain process documentation and KPIs.
  • Assist with launch activities, sample runs, and PPAP preparation.
  • Engage with vendors, labs, and equipment suppliers.
