About The Position

We are looking for a Senior Heat Treat Technology / Process Development Engineer to serve as the technical leader for a patented induction heat treatment and water quench process supporting heavy-gauge carbon steel applications. This role owns recipe development, process control strategy, metallurgical performance, and long‑term capability in a mid‑volume, IATF 16949 manufacturing environment. You will drive technical direction, lead complex investigations, and mentor other engineers while shaping the future of this cutting-edge process.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Materials/Metallurgical, Mechanical, or Manufacturing Engineering.
  • Minimum 7 years in heat treat, induction heating, or advanced thermal process engineering.
  • Strong fluency in DOE, SPC, PFMEA, and IATF 16949 documentation.
  • Deep expertise in metallurgical transformations, distortion mechanics, and process modeling.
  • Demonstrated leadership in solving complex technical problems.
  • Strong communication and the ability to lead cross-functional teams.
  • CAD interpretation, GD&T proficiency, and comfort with data‑driven decision-making.
  • Must meet ITAR/EAR requirements as a U.S. Person.
  • Ability to travel occasionally.

  • Experience launching or commercializing new processes strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead recipe development, validation, and release across multiple product families.
  • Define process windows, control limits, alarm thresholds, and robust reaction plans.
  • Plan and execute advanced DOE, optimization studies, and capability-improvement projects.
  • Serve as subject-matter expert in induction heating, quenching behavior, and metallurgical performance.
  • Lead troubleshooting for distortion, strength deviations, and scrap reduction.
  • Establish long-term process control strategies and documentation standards.
  • Collaborate with Tooling Engineering on fixturing strategies and distortion control.
  • Lead heat treat content for PPAP/FAI submissions and customer-facing technical discussions.
  • Mentor entry-level engineers and technicians in heat treat fundamentals.
  • Drive continuous improvement, cost reduction, and throughput enhancement initiatives.
  • Collaborate with suppliers, customers, and equipment OEMs (occasional travel).
