About The Position

Quanex is looking for a Process & Data Intern to join our team located in Houston, TX. This internship opportunity is for Summer 2026. The Process & Data Intern will support the Project Management Office (PMO) by helping to understand how workflows through operational and project-related processes, identifying inefficiencies, and supporting data-driven improvements to productivity, capacity utilization, and overall operational performance. This role provides hands-on experience in process analysis, stakeholder engagement, and data-supported decision-making across cross-functional teams. What Success Looks Like: Document and map end‑to‑end operational and project processes using standard methodologies such as SIPOC, swimlane diagrams, and value stream mapping. Gather insights by conducting interviews and facilitating workshops to understand current‑state workflows and stakeholder needs. Identify process gaps, bottlenecks, handoff issues, constraints, and inefficiencies affecting operational and project performance. Analyze production and operational data to assess capacity utilization, workload distribution, and factors limiting throughput or resource availability. Develop and deliver clear visual documentation, capability models, metrics, and data‑driven improvement recommendations for PMO leadership and stakeholders. What You Bring: Currently pursuing a degree in Industrial Engineering, Operations/Project Management, Business Analytics, Data Analytics, or a related field, with proficiency in Microsoft Excel and familiarity with BI or project management tools. Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to assess complex processes, workflows, and data with high accuracy. Effective communication and stakeholder engagement, able to collaborate across functional areas. Able to translate complex processes into clear, concise, and visually structured documentation with strong attention to detail. This is a paid, full-time internship that will be paid hourly. The hourly range for this internship is $20 to $25, and the selected hourly rate will align with the intern’s academic experience. Requirements
