This position is designed for the new graduate nurse who demonstrates commitment to the vision and mission of Fred Hutch and to the care of cancer patients and their families. In addition, selects ambulatory oncology nursing as their primary clinical nursing practice. This position is for an RN Procedurist in the procedure suite. The Procedure Suite provides a venue for invasive procedures, with or without moderate sedation or general anesthesia, to adult patients with hematologic malignancies, solid tumor cancers and screening procedures. Procedures include bone marrow biopsy, aspiration and skin biopsy; GI and pulmonary endoscopy; lumbar puncture and intrathecal medication administration; and placement/removal of tunneled and non-tunneled central vascular access devices. Strong emphasis is placed on moderate sedation administration, our expanding Interventional Radiology suite with developments in CT/Angio biopsy, and on our unique RN-procedurist bone marrow procedure program. The procedure suite team also provides support for clinic emergency response events. The resident nurse will work closely with a trained preceptor and master skills necessary to provide safe and accurate patient care. During the first 2 weeks of centralized onboarding, all RN residents will work Monday – Friday, 8 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. During the unit orientation, residents are paired with preceptors and will be assigned shifts to mirror their designated preceptors’ schedules. Shifts are M-F, 4x10 hour shifts from 7:00 a.m. – 5:30 p.m.
