About The Position

Sentara Health is currently hiring for an RN to work at Sentara Norfolk General on the Endoscopy Unit. Generous Sign on Bonus for Qualified Candidates! Sentara Norfolk General Hospital is seeking a dedicated and skilled Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Endoscopy Unit. This position involves comprehensive patient care across the continuum—pre-operative assessment, intra-procedure assistance, and post-procedure recovery—for a variety of outpatient and inpatient procedures. The Endoscopy RN plays a critical role in ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality care for patients undergoing procedures in pulmonary, gastroenterology, and ear, nose, and throat (ENT) specialties. Sentara Norfolk General Hospital, located in Norfolk, VA, is a 525-bed tertiary care facility that is home to the only Level I Adult Trauma Center and burn trauma unit in Hampton Roads, and also serves as the primary teaching hospital for Eastern Virginia Medical School. Requirements

  • Current RN license in the Commonwealth of Virginia (or compact license)
  • Minimum 1 year of nursing experience; endoscopy, critical care, or procedural experience preferred
  • BLS and ACLS certification required
  • Strong communication, critical thinking, and multitasking skills
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment

Responsibilities

  • Conduct patient assessments and preparations for endoscopic procedures
  • Provide safe and effective support during procedures, including sedation monitoring and sterile technique
  • Deliver post-procedure care, monitoring recovery and ensuring patient readiness for discharge or transfer
  • Collaborate closely with physicians and interdisciplinary team members to ensure optimal outcomes
  • Participate in on-call rotation as scheduled (6–8 call shifts/month, including at least one weekend)
