About The Position

This position is primarily responsible for preparing charts, completing patient intake, rooming patient, preparing patient for procedures and assisting physician throughout the day. This role will facilitate the flow of patients and their health information throughout the practice. This role will develop a culture of service commitment amongst the team to provide an exceptional customer service experience to BUC's patients.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • At least 1-2 years of experience in a clinical or procedural setting, preferably in urology or a related field.
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required.
  • Must have a high school diploma or general education degree (GED); one to three months of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers, employees, and/or physicians.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of and experience on a computer in a Windows environment. Experience with but not limited to spreadsheet software, word processing software and electronic medical record systems is necessary.
  • Training in medical terminology, computers, office equipment, and procedures
  • Prior experience in a physician's office practice required
  • Knowledge of medical office procedures, terminology and practice
  • Must be highly organized and motivated with the ability to set, reach and maintain goals in an independent environment
  • Must possess ability to deal with patients' medical administrative staff and all others effectively and professionally
  • Ability to communicate clearly without confusion
  • Ability to multitask and work in a busy patient care environment
  • Mature judgment required

Nice To Haves

  • Completion of a medical assistant, surgical technology, or other relevant program preferred.
  • Certification as a Surgical Technologist (CST) preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and sterilize surgical instruments and equipment
  • Ensure the operating/procedure room is clean and organized
  • Assist in patient positioning and preparation for surgery
  • Monitor and maintain sterile fields during procedures
  • Hand instruments and supplies to the surgeon during the operation
  • Manage surgical specimens for laboratory analysis
  • Operate and troubleshoot surgical equipment and machinery
  • Assist in counting sponges, needles, and instruments to ensure they are not left inside the patient
  • Provide support in case of emergencies or complications during surgery
  • Transport patients to and from the operating/procedure room
  • Update and maintain patient records and documentation
  • Collaborate with the surgical team to ensure optimum patient care
  • Participate in post-operative care and clean-up
  • Stay current with new surgical techniques and advancements
