About The Position

This is a full-time, on-site role located in Seminole, FL, for a Florida Probate Paralegal. This highly experienced position requires extensive knowledge of Florida probate procedure and the ability to open and administer formal and summary administrations in a timely manner from start to finish with attorney oversight. The qualified candidate should possess at least 5-7 years or more of in-depth Florida probate paralegal experience working in a medium to high-volume office. Paralegal certification is a plus, and documentation should be submitted at the time of application. DeLoach, Hofstra & Cavonis is looking for an experienced Probate Paralegal who has experience in handling probate matters. The Probate Paralegal will manage day-to-day probate administration casework, including thoroughly reviewing documentation both provided by clients and mailed to the law firm, preparing and filing legal documents, closely monitoring and managing deadlines, and conducting research on issues arising during the probate administration. Additional key daily responsibilities include reviewing, summarizing, and facilitating communications with clients, beneficiaries, creditors, financial institutions, realtors, and others associated with the probate administration. Responsibilities may also include managing the interplay between probate administrations and associated trust, guardianship, or litigation proceedings occurring both within and outside of the law firm. From time to time, guardianship cases may also be assigned.

Requirements

  • A minimum of at least 5-7 years’ experience as a Florida Probate Paralegal (Florida Bar Certified, a plus)
  • A minimum of at least three years’ experience as a paralegal in probate administration - trust and guardianship experience is preferred but not required
  • Proficient in utilizing the online portals for the Pinellas, Pasco, and Hillsborough County Clerks of Court and Property Appraiser’s Offices
  • Proficient in filing legal documents and exhibits with the Florida Courts E-File Portal
  • Proficient in communicating with Judicial Assistants and interpreting judicial practice preferences
  • Must have great customer service skills with a heart for serving clients’ needs
  • Research capabilities to gather and analyze relevant legal information
  • Attention to detail and organizational skills for managing multiple tasks and deadlines
  • Must be someone who embraces the use of technology while working primarily in a paperless practice area environment.
  • Must have at least 5 years’ experience using MS Office - Word, Excel, Outlook, and Adobe Acrobat Pro
  • Works well both independently and as part of a team

Nice To Haves

  • Paralegal certification or relevant associate's degree preferred
  • Experience working with Practice Manager is a plus
  • Spanish speaking is a plus, but not required
