In this role… You will be responsible for performing various probate case types, data entry, and analytical review at the direction of the Probate Coordinator and/or judges. Audit probate case filing for statutory compliance including financial review of annual and final accountings. You will communicate with pro se participants, attorneys, and community partners discussing technical and specialized requirement of case filings. Review proposed Small Estate Affidavits and communicate with filers via in-person, email, and phone. Use OJD and local court policies regarding electronic filing requirements and be responsible for reviewing, accepting, and rejecting electronically filed documents. You will monitor case progress by creating and running reports and take appropriate action to issue courtesy notices and set citation herrings on judicial and probate calendars. Requirements

  • The qualified candidate must have a bachelor’s degree in business, court administration, public administration, or a related field.
  • At least two (2) years of professional legal secretarial, progressively responsible court support, public or private law firm, public guardian, public conservator, fiduciary, or paralegal experience.
  • Any combination of education and experience equivalent to six (6) years of experience that typically supports the knowledge, skills, and abilities for the position.
  • Experience performing a variety of clerical or administrative support tasks with strict deadlines in a busy business or professional setting.
  • Experience using a variety of software programs to access and input information and complete various tasks.
  • Knowledge of the provisions of the Probate Code, Civil Code, Code of Civil Procedures, Revenue and Taxation Codes, and Superior Court rules, which are regularly applied in examining petitions for conservatorships, probate of wills, and other actions requiring approval of the probate court.
  • Skill in writing and reviewing documents for accuracy and completeness.
  • Experience providing training to adult learners.
  • Knowledge of financial (banking), transactional (real estate/contractual, medical treatment care, end of life, etc.) to contextualize review.
  • Some knowledge of accounting and bookkeeping and practices.

Benefits

  • We pay 95% to 99% of medical insurance premiums for full-time employees [OR up to 99% of medical insurance premiums for part-time employees], including mental health coverage.
  • The hourly equivalent for this position is $26.19 - $40.63. [OR The annual salary for this position is $54,464 - $84,501.]

  • OJD will pay you a 5% allowance for bilingual skills (includes ASL) if you can pass a skills test and are assigned to use those skills on the job!
