Under the supervision of the Nurse Manager, you will coordinate and assist with tests, procedures and treatments for patients with cardiac diseases and conditions. In this role, you will generally interact with five outpatients a day, allowing you to truly develop relationships with each person. This niche department houses a family of caregivers brought together by a shared passion for improving the lives of patients and the community. A caregiver in this position works PRN (as needed) variable shifts.

Requirements

  • Current licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Certifications through the American Heart Association
  • Three years of experience in Critical Care/Cardiology
  • Demonstrated expertise in arrhythmia interpretation

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate patient transfers with Heart Center Coordinator, referring physicians and other institutions for Cath Lab procedures.
  • Coordinate and structure schedules between CCU, Cardiology Units and Surgical Services.
  • Evaluate staffing requirements based upon volume and complexity of procedures.
  • Provide patient care during procedures such as catheterizations, pacemaker insertions, angioplasties and myocardial biopsies, atherectomy procedures and electrophysiology studies.
  • Record and monitor pressures and other vital signs during procedures.
  • Monitor patients in holding area after procedures until stabilized.
  • Perform interpretations of patient clinical information and record physiological data.
  • Prepare rooms and equipment for procedures to be done.
  • Instruct patients, families and employees about laboratory procedures.
  • Maintain and updates patient records regularly.
  • Supervise departmental work related to patient care.
  • Participate in community outreach events sponsored by AGMC/HVC.
  • Support and participate in community wellness programs.
  • Serve as preceptor for university students in nursing and/or other health sciences.
