About The Position

Arc Human Services is seeking PRN Independent Support Staff. The position will be As Needed Monday-Friday 9am to 1pm in the Washington/Canonsburg area. Arc Human Services is a premier provider of intellectual and developmental disability and mental illness support. We are a nonprofit organization dedicated to improving the lives of those we serve since 1952. The Independent Support Staff (ISS) position assists program participants in the development of independent living skills, behavior strategies, self-advocacy and prepares participants to become more independent in their homes, schools, communities, volunteer opportunities, or in preparation for employment opportunities. This position is primarily focused on supporting people in the community or their private homes. An Independent Support Staff person will work closely with the program participant and their family.

Requirements

One-year prior experience working with children or adults with an intellectual or developmental disability required
18 years of age or older
High School Diploma or GED
Valid PA Driver’s License
Ability to pass background checks, physical, TB (ALL company paid!)
Must regularly lift and / or move up to twenty-five (25) pounds
Frequently lift and/or move up to fifty (50) pounds
Occasionally lift and/or move up to one hundred (100) pounds

Responsibilities

Assists program participants in the development of independent living skills, behavior strategies, self-advocacy
Prepares participants to become more independent in their homes, schools, communities, volunteer opportunities, or in preparation for employment opportunities
Supporting people in the community or their private homes
Work closely with the program participant and their family
