About The Position

Arc Human Services is seeking PRN Independent Support Staff to join their team. This is a part-time, as-needed position, primarily Monday-Friday from 9am to 1pm, located in the Washington/Canonsburg area. The role involves assisting program participants in developing independent living skills, behavior strategies, and self-advocacy. It prepares participants to become more independent in their homes, schools, communities, volunteer opportunities, or in preparation for employment opportunities. The Independent Support Staff will work closely with program participants and their families, primarily supporting individuals in the community or their private homes. Arc Human Services is a non-profit organization dedicated to improving the lives of those they serve since 1952, supporting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities and mental illness.

Requirements

One-year prior experience working with children or adults with an intellectual or developmental disability
18 years of age or older
High School Diploma or GED
Valid PA Driver’s License
Ability to pass background checks
Ability to pass a physical
Ability to pass a TB test
Must regularly lift and/or move up to twenty-five (25) pounds
Must frequently lift and/or move up to fifty (50) pounds
Must occasionally lift and/or move up to one hundred (100) pounds

Responsibilities

Assist program participants in the development of independent living skills
Assist program participants in the development of behavior strategies
Assist program participants in the development of self-advocacy
Prepare participants to become more independent in their homes, schools, communities, volunteer opportunities, or in preparation for employment opportunities
Support people in the community or their private homes
Work closely with the program participant and their family
