About The Position

Someone who can support our Physicians and Nurse Practitioners in the clinics by managing prior authorizations and helping triage incoming patient calls. This role keeps patient care moving by coordinating with insurance companies, gathering needed clinical information, and making sure patient questions get to the right place the 1st time.

Requirements

• Experience in medical office or authorization setting preferred.
• Strong communication and phone skills
• Ability to stay organized and handle a busy workflow
• Knowledge of basic Medical Terminology
• Ability to prioritize and complete multiple tasks simultaneously
• Detail focused and comfortable handing the various insurance portals
• Requires standing, sitting or walking for up to 8 hours or longer per workday
• The ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Exposure to distressed patients, families or visitors
• Possible exposure to inside environmental conditions
• High School graduate or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Submit and track prior authorizations for medications, imaging, referrals and procedures
• Communicates with insurance companies and request clinical details when needed
• Answer patient calls, document concerns and route messages appropriately with friendly manner
• Identify urgent symptoms and follow triage protocols
• Keeps Physicians, Nurse Practitioners and nursing staff informed of any delays, denials, or urgent issues
• Maintain accurate documentation in the hospitals EMR System
• Maintains patient confidentiality
• Schedules patient appointments accurately according to the individual locations scheduling preferences if needed
