Our Design team is responsible for establishing the trends, color, and style direction for our seasonal and customer-driven lines. They create apparel designs to be shared with internal teams during trend presentations, and external teams at buyer meetings. Once orders are placed, the Design team project manages and oversees the sample development and production process in conjunction with cross-functional partners. Our Laura Ashley brand draws inspiration from the quintessential English lifestyle. Creating a feminine, sophisticated and timeless product, these traditional values and aesthetics are applied to create patterns that are rich in floral prints, remaining classic and true to the brand. Our prints bring our product to life and we are seeking a Print Production Design Assistant who can help us manage this process end-to-end. This unique position smooths the lines between our talented print and design teams. The ideal candidate will have an understanding of how the print process incorporates into the overall design processes and be able to multi-task the many moving parts of production. This person must be aligned aesthetically with the brand, organized, eager to learn and able to execute these essential responsibilities:

Requirements

  • Fashion degree or related field bachelors degree.
  • Internship experience strongly preferred.
  • Proficiency in Illustrator, Photoshop and Microsoft Excel.
  • Positive attitude and team player.
  • Excellent communication and follow-up skills, ability to manage multiple tasks, strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Candidate must be passionate about fashion and thrive in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Create/color match and update seasonal color palettes.
  • Ensure print production packages are correct and production ready.
  • Track and organize print development samples by following up with factories to ensure strike-offs and sample rolls are received on time and correct gsm weight.
  • Assist Designer with strike off comments with the Color Team
  • Proactively gain understanding of production constraints for factory ready artwork and repeats.
  • Research emerging print/graphic techniques with input from Print Designer.
  • Research the market and assist Designer with market/trend research on print, color and fabrication.
  • Pursue opportunities to personally grow and develop/improve skills, such as working with the Print Design team to practice illustration, repeats, and techniques to improve technical and brand understanding.
