About The Position

TPI is currently hiring Print Production Associates for 3rd shift to work onsite in Des Moines, IA. The Print Production Associate supports the production of printed materials by assisting in the Bindery department. This role provides on-the-job training in bindery operations, including material handling, sorting and bundling direct mail jobs with variable data components, packaging finished materials, and basic equipment operation and upkeep. The associate supports bindery operators with setup activities, stocking supplies, and maintaining a clean and organized work area. Strong attention to detail, mechanical aptitude, and a willingness to learn are essential.

Requirements

  • Mechanical aptitude with the ability to troubleshoot and maintain printing and finishing equipment.
  • Ability to multitask and work efficiently under tight deadlines in a fast-paced production environment.
  • Strong attention to detail to ensure accurate job setup, quality output, and proper finishing.
  • Manual dexterity for handling paper stock, operating presses, and handling finished products.
  • Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
  • Team-oriented mindset with strong communication and collaboration skills.

Nice To Haves

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Prior exposure to a print shop, warehouse, or manufacturing environment a plus.
  • Understanding of color calibration, print quality standards, and finishing processes.
  • Familiarity with direct mail and variable data concepts.
  • Knowledge of paper types, coatings, and finishing techniques.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in setting up and operating bindery equipment including cutters, folders, and saddle stitchers.
  • Load/unload paper, monitor print quality and machine performance, and report any issues.
  • Organize, sort, and package direct mail jobs with variable data components.
  • Inspect printed and finished materials for defects, alignment, and consistency with quality standards.
  • Perform regular quality control checks to ensure production meets specifications.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization in the print and bindery areas.
  • Collaborate with team members to meet production deadlines efficiently.
  • Follow job tickets and specifications to ensure accurate job execution.
  • Operate pallet jacks and other material handling tools to transport stock and finished goods.
  • Adhere to all company safety policies and operational procedures.
