Ensures the creation and implementation of architecture standards of products and systems are consistent with the overall business needs and ascertains how application solutions should be leveraged to meet those business needs. Set strategic direction to guide technology management decision making processes for application development, global infrastructure, and 3rd party vendors and implementation partners. Oversee Technical Architecture leadership, Architecture Services, and related teams to facilitate technology solutions planning, design, and coordination of multi-year roadmaps for IT applications and support activities. Works directly with the senior management team and business leadership to identify, recommend, implement, and maintain appropriate technology solutions, modernizations, and rationalizations for all aspects of the organization. Must stay knowledgeable of market and industry trends, competitors, and leading customer strategies.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Arts/Sciences (BA/BS) required
• 15+ Years of progressive professional experience evaluating, delivering, and/or managing in a complex IT environment(s) required
• 15+ Years IT experience including 10+ years working on large, complex development projects. required
• 20+ Years professional experience in information technology
• 10+ Years experience in system architecture
• Working knowledge of core insurance, accounting, and information systems required
• Senior-to-expert knowledge and experience with Relational DBMS (multiple vendors), application architectures (Javascript/Node, J2EE and .NET), React, Goovy/Grails Tool Suite; middleware architectures services based, queue based, message based), operating systems (multiple vendor), and cloud. required
• Expert knowledge of functional, structured, and object-oriented design/programming, relational database design, operating systems, networking concepts, and systems integration, as well as architecture patterns. required
• Understanding of insurance company business and insurance industry concepts required
• Demonstrated success in decision making, conflict resolution, communication and negotiation/influence skills, to be effective working between many high-level managers. required
• Advanced oral and written communication skills, demonstrating the ability to convey business terminology that is meaningful and well received by the customer. required
• Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills. required
• Ability to manage multiple projects and/or sub-teams simultaneously, including the ability to delegate key areas of responsibility. required
• Proficient in software development methodologies and possesses the ability to disseminate them to a team. required
• Ability to quickly learn and understand the business of RGA Technology Partners. required
• Comprehensive knowledge of Service Oriented Architecture (SOA), Domain Driven Design and Microservices required

Nice To Haves

• MBA and/or Master’s degree preferred
• AWS cloud experience preferred
• LOMA certification

Responsibilities

• Leads and facilitates Technical Advisory function to define architectural principles and standards; establish, monitor, and manage application development practices and standards; determine technologies and infrastructures required for application development and support; monitor and manage technology lifecycle to control and guard against obsolescence.
• Accountable oversight and strategic direction for architecture teams as they collaborate across the Global Technology organization for creation, management, and adherence to published technology management framework.
• Ensures Global Technology application decisions are in line with the overall needs of the business and identify opportunities where IT can provide value.
• Ensure scope, visibility, and support of architecture & technology decisions across Enterprise IT.
• Establishes solution architecture for complex, interconnected, multi-platform systems.
• Ensures collaboration and shared best practices with the other architects.
• Collaborates and plans best practices with the technical teams who develop, test, and support products.
• Supports strategic planning and maintain alignment, of projects.
• Ensures systems meet the various statutory and regulatory requirements that drive how the business must operate, especially as they pertain to IT applications.
• Serves as a liaison between the architecture team, business area leaders, and team leaders.
• Provides mentoring and coaching to team members through performance evaluation and identifying development opportunities; continually developing project team competencies.
• Maintains current knowledge of industry practices, trends, and applications.
• Performs in an advisory role to senior management on potential new business developments, programs, and new technology.
