Principal Travelers Rest High School About the School: As an International Baccalaureate World School, Travelers Rest High School offers a challenging and rigorous curriculum designed to prepare students for college, career, and life. Students may choose from a broad range of academic pathways, including the International Baccalaureate Programme, Advanced Placement, Dual Credit, and Career and Technical Education. Through these opportunities, TRHS students regularly graduate with college credit, industry credentials, or both, positioning them to be competitive in postsecondary education and the workforce. A Successful Candidate: Serves as the administrative head of the school and, as such, has responsibility for coordination of the total resources of the school and the general supervision of all school activities, safety, and welfare. Consults with teachers, students, parents, and other parts of the school community on a regular planned basis in order to attain a high level of communication and collaboration. Cultivates a program of instruction of the school consistent with the philosophy of education approved by the Greenville County Board of Trustees. Communicates the educational objectives of the school to parents and other citizens of the community, and encourages their participation in efforts to improve the school program. Assigns all professional staff within the building in accordance with their certification and competency. Initiates the recruitment, selection, assignment, orientation, training, evaluation, transfer, promotion, and dismissal of staff. Works cooperatively with the superintendent and administration in the preparation of school budgets and in other applicable business operations of the school. Utilizes a Multi-Tiered Student Support Systems approach to advancing student achievement. Supports a strong, positive discipline system with high expectations and focused on student social/emotional growth. Understands student achievement data and methods to increase performance of the school through collaboration with school, district, and community resources and supports. Develops, implements and monitors outcomes of school improvement plans and student achievement to improve student learning in all areas. Creates, develops, and sustains relationships that result in active student engagement in the learning process that includes utilizing students, staff, families, and community members in the development, evaluation, and monitoring of policies, programs, and strategies. Supports teachers and students in the full utilization of technology as a tool to enhance teaching and learning in a personalized learning environment. Develops and successfully implements a comprehensive special education plan that provides a continuum of services. Maintains a positive professional climate where personal and professional standards and conduct enhance the image of the school and the education profession. Provides supervision and oversight for the athletic programs for the school. Assume such other duties and responsibilities as may be assigned by immediate supervisor.

Requirements

  • A minimum earned Master's Degree from an accredited institution in related field.
  • Valid South Carolina secondary principal's certificate
  • Three to five years of administrative/supervisory experience.
