Principal of Hillcrest High School Reports to: Assistant Superintendent for School Leadership About the School: Located along I-385 and one of the larger high schools in Greenville County, Hillcrest High School is renowned for academic and extra-curricular excellence. Hillcrest High School has been a source of pride for the Simpsonville-Fountain Inn community for almost six decades. Hillcrest High School is an award-winning school, having most recently secured an Excellent Report Card rating for two years in a row while developing an exceptional Career and Technology Program in addition to being known throughout the state for its Agricultural Science program. Hillcrest High School has one of the most highly decorated choral departments in the state as well as an outstanding band program. The local community strongly supports Hillcrest High School and both athletic and academic booster clubs are strong and actively involved in providing support for students. Hillcrest High School is a large comprehensive public high school, while still maintaining a hometown school atmosphere. Many parents and community members are Hillcrest High School graduates and continue to support the school many years after their graduation. Requirements

  • A minimum earned Master's Degree from an accredited institution in a relevant field.
  • Valid South Carolina elementary or secondary principal's certificate
  • Three to five years of teaching and administrative/supervisory experience.

Responsibilities

  • Creates and sustains a vision aligned to the Greenville County Schools Strategic Education Plan.
  • Develops, implements and monitors the school improvement plan to improve student learning in all areas.
  • Ensures continuous improvement for all learners through high expectations, results-focus, and strong data-based decision making skills.
  • Uses a Multi-Tiered Systems of Support approach to advance student achievement and meet the needs of all learners.
  • Supports teachers and students to enhance teaching and learning in a personalized learning environment.
  • Utilizes student achievement data and methods to increase student performance through collaboration with school, district, and community resources and supports.
  • Serves as the administrative head of the school and maintains responsibility for coordination of the total resources of the school including personnel, financial, and facility.
  • Provides supervision and oversight for the extracurricular and after school programs and activities.
  • Recruits, monitors, supports, evaluates, retains, and ensures high quality performance of teachers and staff who implement the vision and mission of the school and district.
  • Work cooperatively with district level staff to ensure the school functions at a high level of success.
  • Serves as the administrative head of the school and, as such, has responsibility for coordination of the total resources of the school and the general supervision of all school activities, safety, and welfare.
  • Assigns all professional staff within the building in accordance with their certification and competency.
  • Supports a strong, positive school culture and climate focused on student social/emotional growth and development matched with high expectations.
  • Creates, develops, and sustains relationships that result in active student engagement in the learning process.
  • Engages students, staff, families, and community members in the development, evaluation, and monitoring of policies, programs, and strategies.
  • Communicates the educational objectives of the school to parents and other citizens of the community, and encourages their participation in efforts to improve the school program.
  • Actively participate in the School Improvement Council, Parent Teacher Association, and other parent/community groups/organizations
  • Maintains a positive and culturally responsive climate that provides students the opportunity to learn from a highly qualified and diverse faculty and staff.
  • Ensures that all policies of the Board of Trustees and adherence to all local, state, and federal requirements are met.
  • Maintains a positive professional climate where personal and professional standards and conduct enhance the image of the school and the education profession.
  • Cultivates a program of instruction of the school consistent with the philosophy of education approved by the Greenville County Board of Trustees.
  • Consults with teachers, students, parents, and other parts of the school community on a regular planned basis in order to attain a high level of communication and collaboration.
  • Collaborates and implements professional development that promotes the achievement of school and district goals.
  • Accesses available resources and opportunities for ongoing personal professional growth.
  • Assume such other duties and responsibilities as may be assigned by immediate supervisor.
