STATUS: Administrator - Exempt POSITION SUMMARY: This position is responsible for approximately 60 employees and 300-600 students. This position will serve as an instructional leader, building manager and district champion. This position is part of the Elementary Leadership team and reports to the Assistant Superintendent, Elementary Schools and/or the Executive Director of Elementary Education. PRIMARY DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES: Display a data driven focus on student academic and social and emotional learning through continuous improvement of instruction as evidenced by student achievement or growth. Maintain a guaranteed and viable curriculum for all students. Collaborate with professional colleagues in district administration and departments. Ensure a positive, orderly and safe building climate and culture. Manage the fiscal, operational, and technological resources of the building in a way that focuses on effective instruction and the achievement of all students. Select, develop, engage and retain high qualified staff. Supervise all teachers and support positions. Complete and discuss classified and teacher performance on a regular basis meeting the expectations of the performance appraisal process and timelines outlined by OPS board policy and Kansas Statutes. Develop, facilitate, and support the professional development for staff using: Coaching and support to ensure a growth mindset for all Professional growth outcomes aligned with district vision and school improvement targets Observations and feedback through formal observations and regular walk-throughs Building professional learning that supports needs of students as identified through building data. Support for struggling educators Monitor and actively engage in the problem-solving process for struggling and at-risk students. Plan and lead faculty meetings for all certified and classified staff. Actively participate and lead team meetings when needed for special education students to ensure appropriate allocation of resources to support student goals. Serve as a building communicator for district information to appropriate stakeholders. Facilitate communication between staff, students and/or parents when evaluating situations, solving problems and/or resolving conflicts. Engage community, building and district staff in fulfillment of the district and building vision. Be a visible presence to the staff and community through daily interactions and participation in school functions and events. Building and sustaining relationships with all stakeholders (students, parents, building staff, district personnel). Participate, attend, and support school functions. Work with parent organization or booster club in supporting the needs of the students and staff of the school. Skilled at managing behavioral and academic concerns. Demonstrate life-long learning capacity through participation in district committees, professional development, PLC work, workshops, etc to gain new knowledge and develop understanding of current, best-practices. Perform other duties as assigned.
