About The Position

The Principal Trainer plays a critical role in ensuring our healthcare professionals are equipped to effectively utilize the Epic Electronic Health Record (EHR) system. This highly visible position focuses on inpatient workflows and ClinDoc functionality, delivering comprehensive training programs that enhance patient care and optimize clinical processes. As a key member of the training team, the Principal Trainer will collaborate closely with analysts and project teams to design, develop, and deliver engaging training content while supporting successful adoption across the organization. Requirements

  • Registered Nurse (RN) with inpatient clinical experience required.
  • Minimum of 3–5 years of applicable IT or clinical experience.
  • Certification in at least one Epic application (ClinDoc required; additional certifications in Optime or other modules preferred).
  • Strong understanding of inpatient workflows and clinical documentation.
  • Ability to design and deliver engaging training content for adult learners.
  • Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Demonstrated flexibility in adapting to changes in training content and delivery methods.
  • Proficiency in MST build and Epic training environments.
  • Willingness to take ownership of work activities and ensure timely completion.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred.
  • Prior experience in Epic training or clinical education strongly preferred.
  • Certification in at least one Epic application (additional certifications in Optime or other modules preferred).

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain up-to-date training programs for Epic applications, with a strong emphasis on ClinDoc for nursing and inpatient workflows.
  • Engage in project-based work, collaborating with analysts to understand workflows and articulate training needs.
  • Build and maintain MST environments (Epic’s shadow system) for training purposes.
  • Design and deliver role-based training content using a variety of tools and applications.
  • Create instructional materials, including tip sheets and standard operating procedures, incorporating feedback from subject matter experts.
  • Prepare and facilitate classroom and virtual training sessions, ensuring materials and environments are ready prior to sessions.
  • Support personalization labs and provide expert guidance to end users.
  • Collaborate with team members to co-facilitate training and assist with exercises as needed.
  • Communicate clearly and effectively in verbal and written formats to trainers, trainees, and project stakeholders.
  • Manage training projects, prioritize tasks, and adhere to timelines for successful delivery.
