About The Position

This position requires office presence of a minimum of 5 days per week and is only located in the location(s) posted. No relocation is offered. Join AT&T and help shape the future of communications and technology that connect the world. We value innovators who seek to explore the unknown and challenge the status quo. Bring your bold ideas and fearless spirit to redefine connectivity and transform how people share stories and experiences. At AT&T, you won’t just imagine the future—you’ll build it. What you’ll do: Senior technical execution leader for a business-critical enterprise web application that serves as a system of record for sales location and employee attributes and supports provisioning workflows across multiple downstream systems. Accountable for release execution, production reliability, documentation/runbook maturity, and ongoing modernization (including migration of WildFly/JBoss-hosted workloads on Azure VMs to Azure App Services, and CI/CD modernization as the team begins moving from existing Maven-based pipelines toward GitHub Actions). Expected to drive an AI-first approach to engineering efficiency and quality (e.g., accelerating documentation, analysis, testing, and remediation with appropriate human validation). Environment includes Java, Spring + JSP, Oracle (PL/SQL/stored procedures), Azure, Maven with artifact management (e.g., JFrog), and extensive batch/file integrations. Hands-on coding is limited (0–20%) and focused on unblocking the team, reviews, and targeted technical changes.. What you’ll need: Lead technical execution in partnership with the Technical Director and team leads (engineering/test/ops/architecture); remove blockers and ensure predictable delivery. Serve as release captain: planning/readiness, runbooks, deployment coordination, risk/rollback, and reduction of manual steps (including controlled SQL governance). Provide technical leadership for Java/Spring/JSP/WildFly components through design guidance, reviews, and targeted contributions. Drive modernization enablement: CI/CD improvements (toward GitHub Actions), deployment automation, and Azure VM → App Services migration support. Improve reliability of integrations and batch/file delivery flows (high volume), including failure recovery and dependency management. Act as an escalation point for production incidents and critical operational issues; lead/coordinate rapid triage and restoration. Triage and prioritize issues reported by users/partners, ensuring timely investigation, clear ownership, and resolution. Strengthen production readiness: observability (logs/metrics/tracing), incident leadership, RCA, and operational playbooks. Coordinate root cause analysis and drive follow-up actions for significant incidents, balancing short-term remediation with long-term fixes to improve stability and supportability. Communicate incident/release status, business impact, risks, and resolution progress clearly to stakeholders. Coordinate vulnerability remediation and patch readiness (platform/DB/golden images) with partners. Own and maintain critical documentation (architecture, interfaces/dependencies, batch/job inventory, runbooks, onboarding), leveraging AI tooling to accelerate. Support after-hours/weekend work as needed during releases and production events (no formal on-call rotation, but high ownership during critical moments). What you’ll bring: 15+ years enterprise software engineering experience with production ownership. Strong Java enterprise background; experience with WildFly/JBoss (or equivalent) and Spring + JSP modernization. Strong Oracle experience including PL/SQL/stored procedures and safe DB change practices. Experience with high-volume batch/file integrations and operational support. Proven release/deployment leadership (runbook-driven execution, risk/rollback, automation mindset; controlled manual steps including DB changes). CI/CD experience with Maven and artifact repos (e.g., JFrog); GitHub Actions modernization a plus. Azure experience; migration to managed hosting (e.g., App Services) preferred. Operational excellence: incident/RCA leadership and observability practices. Security hygiene experience: vulnerability remediation coordination and patch planning. Familiarity with employee/location hierarchy-type data and provisioning-oriented workflows is a plus. Primarily in-office with limited WFH as needed; available for after-hours support when required. Education/Experience: Bachelor’s degree (BS/BA) desired in Computer Science. 7+ years of related experience. Certification is required in some areas.
