About The Position

The Systems Engineer plays a critical role in the design, development, integration, and sustainment of CUAS and Air Defense System Solutions. This position requires a strong foundation in systems engineering principles and the ability to work across multidisciplinary teams to ensure the successful execution of complex projects. The responsible Systems Engineer will support technical planning, requirements development, system design, verification and validation, and risk management. Additionally, this role involves collaboration with program management, operations, and sustainment teams to deliver high-quality, mission-critical solutions in compliance with industry and government regulations.

Requirements

  • Strong understanding of systems engineering principles, including requirements development, system architecture, and integration.
  • Effective communication skills for presenting technical concepts, writing documentation, and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Ability to perform system modeling, trade studies, and risk analysis to support decision-making.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to apply engineering fundamentals to real-world challenges.
  • Hands-on experience with engineering development, testing, integration, site surveys, validation, and verification activities.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with engineering tools and methodologies such as Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE), MATLAB, or simulation software.
  • Experience with aerospace and defense systems, including DoD or NASA programs.
  • Familiarity with systems engineering standards such as INCOSE, IEEE, and/or MIL-STDs.
  • Exposure to software, hardware, or mechanical integration processes within complex systems.
  • Knowledge of Agile development processes or Lean Six Sigma or other continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Experience with DoD, DoE, or other government aerospace & defense programs and regulatory compliance (e.g., FAR, DFARS, ITAR).
  • Knowledge of emerging aerospace technologies, including digital engineering, AI/ML applications, and autonomous systems.

Responsibilities

  • Lead design, development, integration, and sustainment of CUAS air defense systems throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Assist in defining system requirements, architecture, and interfaces, ensuring alignment with customer needs and regulatory requirements.
  • Lead system modeling, trade studies, and risk assessments to evaluate design alternatives and optimize system performance.
  • Lead in system verification and validation activities, including test planning, execution, and data analysis.
  • Lead site surveys, manage range activates
  • Directly communicate with program customers and senior leadership
  • Lead closely with cross-functional teams, including program management, manufacturing, and sustainment, to ensure seamless system integration.
  • Develop and maintain system documentation, including specifications, interface control documents, test procedures, and technical reports.
  • Lead/Perform technical reviews, providing engineering input and recommendations for continuous improvement.
  • Stay informed on industry best practices, emerging technologies, and regulatory requirements relevant to CUAS Short Range Air Defense Systems.
