Raytheon’s Systems Engineering & Test Capabilities is seeking a Principal Systems Engineer who will support Hardware Design, Integration, and Test in Huntsville AL as a Project Lead. You will be responsible for engineering activities, including design, integration, and testing for missile development events, development of verification strategies for missile systems. You will work independently and side-by-side engineering team members and occasionally perform local and non-local travel to Raytheon and government facilities.

Requirements

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 8 years of prior relevant experience.
  • Experience with project management.
  • Experience with Hardware, testing, and/or integration.
  • Experience with Earned Value Management (EVMS).
  • Active and transferable U.S. government issued security clearance is required prior to start date.
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
  • Active and existing security clearance required on day 1.

  • Good communication, collaboration, and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to influence at all levels of the organization and represent engineering with internal and external customers.
  • Demonstrated experience managing programs and experience in managing program staffing, assignments, and resources.
  • Experience interfacing with internal or external customers, providing technical solutions to user requirements, and generating and maintaining technical documentation and work instructions.
  • Strong individual integration skills, team interaction skills, and willingness to perform local and non-local travel.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the Project Engineering Cross-Functional Team in planning and tracking Projects to achieve optimal efficiency and establish best practice in project planning.
  • Lead the triaging, planning, tracking and reporting progress for assigned project.
  • Interface with the Program Management team on schedule, budget and performance.
  • Drive for excellence in on-time delivery.
  • Participate in engineering activities that include test and systems validation, modeling and simulation, requirements development and analysis, data analysis, and ground test and flight test analysis on missile systems.
  • Participate in test planning, designing, integrating, and executing verification/validation of hardware, software, and firmware.
  • Participate in key processes such as peer, gate, and test readiness reviews.
  • Confirm test and evaluation processes are conducted according to established procedures for software and hardware.
  • Identify risk and manage risk reduction efforts.
