The Land and Air Defense Systems (LADS) Strategic Business Unit (SBU) has an exciting opportunity for a Principal Specialist, Contracts within the Global Patriot program area. This role will support a major NATO Direct Commercial Sale (DCS) portfolio with more than $2B in contracts. In this role, you will be responsible for customer communication, contract management, change management, the contractual management of engineering design, coordination of invoicing, fulfillment of contract requirements in accordance with company policies, legal requirements, and customer specifications. You will need to utilize regular application of thorough business acumen and subject matter expertise to understand program performance requirements, provide guidance, and influence results in support of program and financial objectives. Additionally, the Principal Specialist, Contracts is required to work closely with Program Management leadership, the Office of General Counsel, and cross-functional peers in support of program gate reviews, program management reviews, business strategy sessions, proposal reviews, risk management activities, and all other contractual related matters affecting the portfolio. This role will work with both internal and external customers to ensure programs' performance, provide guidance, and influence outcomes to achieve desired results. The successful candidate should have a track record of success in DCS contracting including terms and conditions, contract execution, milestone payment plans and with an excellent financial background. The successful candidate will also be expected to have the prerequisite skills and experience to represent Raytheon independently on significant transactions while having ability to develop and maintain trusting relationships with complex customers.

Requirements

  • Typically requires a University Degree or equivalent experience and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience, or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years' experience
  • Experience with Contracts or Subcontracts/Procurement administration or management

Responsibilities

  • Effectively communicate with internal and external customers to establish mutually beneficial relationships and influence business decisions
  • Balance Contract Execution and Business Capture responsibilities to help both sustain and grow the portfolio.
  • Implement strategies to improve acquisition timelines and customer pace of contractual actions
  • Investigate and resolve complex contractual matters by applying astute critical thinking, gathering detailed information, seeking creative contracting techniques, and proactively collaborating with relevant stakeholders
  • Provide strategic advice and guidance on numerous contractual rights/obligations, regulations, and policy/procedure to mitigate risks and unauthorized changes
  • Draft and review proposals to ensure proposed solutions meet customer requirements, represent a balanced risk/opportunity posture and deliver a financially sound business case while meeting company policies and standards
  • Some international travel may be required to meet with the customer
