About The Position

Unum Technology Centre in Carlow serves as a strategic software development and IT services centre supporting Unum, a leading provider of income protection in the US. Our team of IT professionals build solutions and critical business applications to digitally transform the way we do business. We are seeking a highly motivated Principal Solutions Engineer to join our team of Solution Architects. In this strategic and cross-functional role, you will lead the design and delivery of scalable, high-impact solutions across Salesforce and other enterprise platforms. You will play a key role in shaping technical strategy, guiding engineering practices, and ensuring that our solutions align with business goals and deliver exceptional user experiences.

Requirements

• Strong expertise in Salesforce technologies including Apex, Lightning Web Components, Visualforce, and Salesforce APIs (REST/SOAP).
• Experience designing and integrating solutions across multiple platforms, including public cloud services and on-premises systems.
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, version control (e.g., Git), and DevOps practices.
• Proficiency in data modeling, security design, and performance optimization across large datasets and complex environments.
• Experience with ETL processes, data migration, and managing multi-system integrations.
• 10+ years of experience in enterprise software development, including significant experience with Salesforce.
• 4+ years in a technical leadership or solution architecture role, with proven success designing complex, multi-system environments.

• Salesforce Certified Technical Architect (CTA)
• Salesforce Certified Application Architect or System Architect
• Salesforce Certified Platform Developer II
• Certifications in other enterprise platforms or cloud technologies (e.g., AWS, Azure, MuleSoft) are a plus

Responsibilities

• Solution Architecture: Design and oversee end-to-end solution architectures across Salesforce and other enterprise systems, translating business requirements into scalable, secure, and maintainable technical designs.
• Technical Leadership: Provide thought leadership and mentorship to engineering teams, establish best practices for development, integration, and deployment across platforms.
• Cross-functional Collaboration: Partner with Product, Business, and Engineering teams to ensure cohesive and aligned solution delivery across systems.
• Project Oversight: Lead solution delivery from planning through deployment, ensuring quality, scope, and timelines are met.
• Platform Strategy & Innovation: Drive continuous improvement by identifying optimization opportunities, recommending new tools and technologies, and fostering innovation across platforms.
