About The Position
Amazon Lab126 is looking for a Principal Software Engineer in Graphics to lead our cross OS technical direction for all elements of our graphics rendering stacks. You will provide technical leadership for the team responsible for designing and implementing and delivering state of the art rendering solutions across a range of Amazon's products, including Echo and Fire TV devices. The Principal Engineer in Graphics is a unique and challenging role at Lab126, and the right candidate must possess the ability to scale solutions and to scale their influence across multiple platform, OS and product development teams. This position will provide the right engineer with an engaging and challenging opportunity. Key job responsibilities Engineers in this role must show exemplary judgment in making technical trade-offs between short versus long term design, performance and business goals. They must also demonstrate resilience and navigate difficult situations with composure and tact. Conflicts should be addressed by listening, finding the best way forward and persuading one’s colleagues. Successful engineers in this role will regularly analyze their own performance with a critical eye. A broad understanding of the embedded devices landscape, and industry interconnections is required. This position will also requires the right candidate to lead training, advice, and mentorship to other engineers throughout Lab126.
Requirements
- 12+ years of industry experience with a focus on graphics and rendering technologies.
- Previous experience with leading graphics technology initiatives in the consumer device space, particularly with embedded systems or operating systems.
- 10+ years of experience in defining and implementing rendering system requirements, architecture and technical roadmaps.
- 5+ years of demonstrated experience in leading technical teams in the graphics space.
Nice To Haves
- Prior experience in a leadership role within a large technology company, preferably in a device or OS-focused team.
- Demonstrable experience with embedded software, operating systems, and managing cross-functional graphics intensive projects.
- Strong familiarity with with industry standard graphics protocols, open source projects and standards
- Excellent communication and mentorship skills, capable of leading and influencing teams across technical and non-technical domains.
