Role summary: The Principal Software Engineer, Information Security, leads the design and implementation of secure, scalable software solutions aligned with business objectives. The role also mentors team members, leads a pillar, and managing risk to uphold security and compliance standards. About the team: The OneLab Development and Engineering team within Walmart Global Tech’s Information Security Division is dedicated to ensuring a secure environment and fostering trust among customers, associates, and stakeholders. Supporting the ANAB-accredited eDiscovery and Forensics Lab, the team collaborates with business partners to identify, collect, and preserve electronically stored information for litigation and investigations. Focused on advanced security solutions, the team designs, develops, and maintains reliable software systems, ensuring compliance throughout the software development life cycle. They prioritize stakeholder needs and continuous improvement to uphold security and operational excellence.

Requirements

  • Expert in .NET Full-Stack Development Frameworks supporting C#, Python, PowerShell, Telerik UI for Blazor and React Front-End with strong software coding and debugging skills.
  • Proficiency in ETL jobs, SQL, Stored Procedures, Structured Data Architecture and Design, SSMS, GCP, Azure.
  • Methodologies: Agile approaches, risk analysis, data migration, traceability matrix, telemetry, CI/CD pipeline.
  • Solution Design: Software architecture, scalability, disaster recovery, non-functional requirements, and tech stacks.
  • Testing and QA: Test strategy preparation, test tools, regression testing, defect tracking.
  • DevOps Knowledge: Monitoring, documentation, debugging, re-engineering.
  • Leadership and Stakeholder Management: Effective communication, influencing partnerships, team mentorship, and conflict resolution.
  • Option 1: Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, engineering, information systems, cybersecurity, or related area and 5years’ experience in software engineering or related area at a technology, retail, or data-driven company.
  • Option 2: 7 years’ experience in software engineering or related area at a technology, retail, or data-driven company.

Nice To Haves

  • Certification in Security+, GISF, CISSP, CCSP, or GSEC
  • Master’s degree in computer science, information technology, engineering, information systems, cybersecurity or related area and 3 years’ experience leading information security or cybersecurity projects

Responsibilities

  • Lead design and development of scalable, secure software solutions aligned with business requirements and industry standards.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders to translate business needs into technical strategies and actionable plans.
  • Guide and review code quality, ensuring adherence to coding standards, security protocols, and maintainability.
  • Drive implementation of telemetry and monitoring to enhance system performance and reliability.
  • Oversee defect management processes, root cause analysis, and resolution to maintain high-quality software delivery.
  • Mentor engineering teams on best practices in software engineering, security, and continuous integration/deployment.
  • Analyze and address technical risks, ensuring business continuity and compliance with security standards.
